November 20, 2011 at 3:43 pm #170881So all was good until Yesterday, I was trying to get an idea on how to change the T3 logo from the cpanel position into my own logo. well maybe I should have not play with that, but my site is completely messed up now.
a) Internet Explorer shows a mess — was perfect before
b) Firefox, Opera, Safari and Chrome are also feeling the results but not as bad, even still unacceptable.
C) I have been a member since 2007, I am about to renew my account…maybe, I started to not like this situations anymore, Teline is one of the most eye catching templates for news portal, I would hate to walk away from it, but since improvement has been done it has become so sensitive and buggy that I do not know if I should spend more time on it.
D) Just so you know, I am not code sabby person I know the basics, and I know joomla plenty enough, I have developped sites for many customers and had only used Joomlart templates in two sites, so I am not taking advantage of using all your templates, I have also other memberships around.
E) I know some may be thinking… what is my problem? well, it is frustrating to start smething and be happy with it until suddenly everything falls over you, that is exactly what happened to me, not only once but a few time with Teline III and IV. That is why my original site is still running on Teline II. (http://www.clavehispana.com).
F) So I am hoping one of Joomlart team can take a look at my site ( I have provided the info in the form above for support ) and I appreciate any help from you guys FORUM members since you have been a great help since my days here.
PS: excuse any form of insult with my frustration actitud, it is never my intesion.
Site with issues is: http://www.imagineri.com/ch17
Thanks.

November 20, 2011 at 10:23 pm #425582Not sure what you have done there. You seem to have 2 copies of Teline IV loaded. I have set optimization to “No” and that seems to make your site display at least. Whether is is displaying as you wish that is only something you can tell me.

November 21, 2011 at 1:40 am #425610Phill Luckhurst,
Thanks for your help, I have noticed that it is loading okay now, even FF is showing the cpanel and IE is not, and some modules are not published anymore.
Yes, I did something wrong after my frustration, I deleted the template from my installation, I had to do this from my hosting cpanel since I could not deleted from the joomla back end, So after deleting the template I uploaded re-installed using joomla back end, now it seems that joomla is looking at two templates, I do not understand why this is but I screwed myself there.
I while trying to get rid of the copy of the template, had to asign menus items to a diferent template, but not even like that I could, really giving up. Now you’ve are saving my live here, I really appreciate your effort and time, the site as I wnated and was before the crash was identical to the demo only in Spanish and I am manually changing the content as I can to have all my content show by replacing the demo.
So, if possible can you get as muc as you can to look like the demo again. I will be working on it again in about 9 hours from now so anything you can do withing that time frame is good. Thanks again.

Hey, Phill
I have clear the T3 cache every time I edit the site, this has become a need since I use Firefox mostly as my browser and it does not update unless I clear the T3 cache, the other part on setting the css optimization to no, I do not really know about, where do I find this option? and if set to no or yes, what is the diference or why should I use it in certain way? just so I know about this setting.

November 21, 2011 at 2:18 am #425615That setting can be found in the template manager. If you do not set that to “no” then you may end up editing the compressed CSS instead of the correct CSS. Even if you did edit the correct CSS file the cached version would still be displayed until you cleared all the caches.
As for your site it is 2 am her in the UK and I am off to bed so would not be able to do anything in the time you want.
What I would do is first install Akeeba backup to te site. Then run a backup before you do any more work.
Then using your FTP app copy the templates folder to your desktop. Next uninstall Teline IV from the back end. If that does not work then delete the Teline IV folders from the templates directory via FTP. Check in the joomla ack end and see if all referenced to Teline are gone. If so re-install a fresh copy and re-apply your edits referring to the copies of the folder you took earlier if needed.
If all references are not gone then we would need to use phpmyadmin but I could not do that for you until tomorrow evening my time.

November 21, 2011 at 2:31 am #425619Thanks Phill,
I rather wait for your time, I have also noticed a few more things:
Latest News and Most Read tab are not showing in IE8.0 but they do in FF.
The categories prevoiusly displaying fine in both IE and FF now are not showing corretly image bellow.
If I can not get rid of the duplicated template in template manager that is going to be confusing, one is default but has nothing asigned, the other is asigned but not default.
I will see what I can do tomorrow to solve some of the issues, but I will still count on some help from you at any time you can. Thanks
Duplicated issue
Missing content/items menu categories not showing.
Latest News module shows in FF but no in IE

November 22, 2011 at 2:46 am #425832Mr. Phill Luckhurst,
I am still waiting for some time on your side, if you do not have time but know what my problems are please give some clue I can try to fix it myself, see my previous post above, those are part of the issue, I know how to get rid of the duplicated template style now I think ( I have rename the style to #2 and I will asign everything to the non #2 style, and I should be able to delete the duplicate like that) but the rest of the issues I have tried and I can’t but will keep trying since I need to get this template going, there is nothing like this out there. Thanks

November 23, 2011 at 5:43 pm #426158I tried using Extplorer but it just does not work for me. I do not trust it either as it can mess with spacing etc.
Could you send me a propper ftp account and your phpmyadmin logon details as there may be a database issue too.

November 27, 2011 at 2:44 pm #426724Well it is tough to help with limites access. Tell you what, insall Akeeba backup then send me a link via PM to the backup file you take. I will download it and install your site on my local machine and from there see if I can diagnose what your problem is.
Before you do that please detail in full, problem by problem exactly what troubles you are having so I can try and get them sorted in one go.

November 29, 2011 at 6:28 pm #427189Thenks Phill,
Very kind of you to be willing to help in any conditions, I have re-installed a third version of Teline 4 and working on it, that other one I am leaving there as a reference for now, so I am not wasting your valuable time on this anymore.
I would love to know what went wrong since I did not do anything out of the normal, I have been using joomla since 2006 and probably know it very well by now, at least the back end and how it should work, but when it comes to troubleshooting DB and PHP code I am a rocky there, so I truly appreciate your intentions of helping on this but I do not think it is necessary since that site was a development to an upgrade and there is nothing to loose there.
Thanks again.

November 29, 2011 at 8:56 pm #427208No problem. I really am at a loss to know what happened. Never seen this before and hopefully never will again. It certainly does look like a one off corruption somewhere.
Good luck and be sure to show us the completed site.
