I am having problems with JA News when Search Engine Friendly URL is active in Global Settings – Site – SEO Settings.
Redirection of categories (attached file) in ja news doesn’t work properly, going for a 404 error. No problem with main menu.
sorry about my rudimentary english :-[.

June 5, 2008 at 1:08 pm #252153Hi gloderhel
I am new here, so not sure if I can help?
However, your top menu button works fine, which is this URL:
http://www.zonadeajedrez.com/problemasHowever, your section heading URL is this:
http://www.zonadeajedrez.com/problemas/problemas/32-problemasOn the Teline II demo site, both of these have the same URL’s … surely this could be the problem?
I’m still building my site, so can’t help much with the Admin, but this seems to be a problem to me. The URL’s on the demo site do not seem ‘fixed’ as yours?
Not sure if that helps.
Nice site, hope you get it fixed. Good Luck!!
ChrisJune 5, 2008 at 1:43 pm #252156Thanks for the reply Chris :).
Yes, this is the problem, but i don’t know the reason or how to fix it.
The more weird is that it’s only with SEO activated…
June 5, 2008 at 3:25 pm #252170Hi gloderhel,
As far as I learned from several forums, the SEO issue is a general issue of J1.5 and the developers are working on it. The J1.6 release (to be expected very soon) will have addressed this issue.
Whatever the cause of your wrong translation of the addresses is when you switch on the SEO settings, in a working seo environment you would be able to correct it manually and also administer manually the meta data, which is important for seo optimization. This has been a weak point of Joomla so far.
There are some great extensions for the J1.0…. version like the sh404SEF component (non-commercial), which you can get at http://www.joomla.org within the extension section. I believe they are working on the J1.5 compatibility, but you have to check whether it is still beta or already stable. Also check the forum on the joomla.org site as they will have the moost recent update on the SEO-project.June 5, 2008 at 4:18 pm #252177Thanks adisoft for your advices adisoft :).

June 6, 2008 at 12:34 am #252229I have installed a patch for SEO recommended! But you have to change the Joomla core.
But it does wonder for SEO and will be included in the new ver .of Joomla.
You can get it here:
http://www.joomlatwork.com/products/free_products_for_joomla/joomlatwork_sef_patch_for_joomla_release_1.5rc4.html
WARNING: Be carefull and read the instructions. You are messing with the core here.
If you screw up DONT HANG ME! use the uninstall patch.BosseP

June 24, 2008 at 7:22 am #255742Hi all !
this is way for fix :
Open helper.php file in modules/mod_janews folder , find following code section at about line 194 :
' CASE WHEN CHAR_LENGTH(cc.alias) THEN CONCAT_WS(":",s.id,cc.alias) ELSE cc.id END as catslug,'.
change to :
' CASE WHEN CHAR_LENGTH(cc.alias) THEN CONCAT_WS(":",cc.alias) ELSE cc.id END as catslug,'.
1 user says Thank You to Sherlock for this useful post
June 24, 2008 at 8:52 am #255761No, that doesn’t fix it for me.
June 24, 2008 at 9:19 am #255766Really great news!!
