I am trying to figure out how to set up the SEO with the Orisite template. I noticed the demo is set up very nicely so that no matter where an article is placed on the site, the same SEO friendly URL appears in the browser. For example, the article titled “JA Sport will be covering Six Nations game” directs users to the same (seo friendly) URL whether the user clicks the link on the slideshow or the main content section.

However, on my website, when a user clicks a link for the same article in two different sections, the link ends up being different. For example, when I click an article in the slideshow, I get a URL that looks like this:

    http://www.mikeperez.com/component/k2/item/90

When I click the link for the same article in the main content section, I get a URL that looks like this:

    http://www.mikeperez.com/component/k2/item/90-are-your-neighbors-friend-or-foe?

I checked my SEO Settings in Global Configuration and have already set the “Search Engine Friendly URLs” set to YES. I also set the “Use URL rewriting” to YES as well. This issue, however, looks like it may be a setting with K2. I just can’t figure out what i’m missing. I could really use your help with this one.

    Thanks for the help,

    Hello ntonline,

Your hosting must have feature to enable to use “.htaccess” file (for Apache server) and you need to change “Use URL rewriting” tip:

    Apache users only!
Rename htaccess.txt to .htaccess before activating.

    IIS 7 users only!
Rename web.config.txt to web.config and install IIS URL Rewrite Module before activating.

    Regards.
