    Hi,

I am using the JA Purity template.

I would like to display modules in the left position on all (or specified) pages except for the homepage. That is, I never want the home page to have a left column module. I do not want to use the Module Manager Menu Assignment to “Select Menu Item(s) from the List” because the list of items is ever growing and I do not want to need to remember to maintain this every time a menu item is added.

I have followed the advice on this page:

    This almost works.

The module is hidden on the homepage, however, the left panel is still displayed along with a vertical line separator between it and the content area. I would like the content to spread across to the left hand side as is the case when there are no left modules enabled at all.

In summary, on the homepage I have successfully hidden “left position” modules that have a menu assignment of “ALL”. However, the left column and separator still display (although empty) and the main content does not extend to the left hand side.

Does anyone have some direction on what else I need to modify?

    Thanks,
    Annabel

    Hi Anabel:

Can you provide the url of the site you’e working on so we can see what elements you’re looking at and referring to?

    Hi Tom,

I am unable to do this as the site is an intranet. However, here are some screen shots to explain.

This image shows how we want all pages EXCEPT for the home page to look, with a menu module in the left position of the JA Purity template:

This image shows how we want the homepage to look. To achieve the look in the picture NOTHING is assigned to the left position in the template:

This image shows the result using the instructions from the Joomla website:

Here we have enabled the “Teams” menu in the left position, and the “TURN OFF LEFT COLUMN” customer module in the x-left position.

You can see the “Teams” menu has successfully been hidden, however, we are left with white space and separator. I want the result to look like image 1.

    Thanks,
    Annabel
