January 19, 2013 at 4:39 am #184147I’ve been making some pretty significant modifications to Mero, and HAD the Side News modules working exactly as intended, then all of a sudden, they stopped working properly.
I’ve looked at this several times now, and still can’t find what I did to break them. They were sliding up perfectly, and then the page started loading with them already in the “up” position, and they won’t slide down on mouse-over or mouse-out.
I’m hoping an admin with fresh eyes can spot what I’ve been unable to, and explain WHY they’re now acting this way.
Also, when I click on the story in the Side News module, it should be opening in a single-article layout (menu items have been created), but only one of them loads correctly, and the others don’t. This is probably relevant to the problem. The ones that aren’t loading correctly are missing their page background and other styling on the page that the one that IS loading correctly has. It’s a bizarre mess.
I’ve come too far with this customization to re-install and start over. Your help is greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

January 19, 2013 at 7:06 am #480402Strange… I re-published the JA Slideshow Lite module and suddenly they worked again. VERY strange. I think we can officially call this one a bug.

January 19, 2013 at 7:15 am #480406The single-article pages the Side News modules link to are still displaying incorrectly, but at least the Side News modules themselves appear to be working, once I re-published the JA Slideshow Lite module.

January 22, 2013 at 8:39 pm #480808Since the Side News positions are only working correctly when Slideshow Lite is published, I’ve tried setting it up as an ad rotator. (I know, not the intended use, but it has all the characteristics — just needs to be re-sized. But apparently that doesn’t work (see my other support request here: http://www.joomlart.com/forums/topic/ja-slideshow-lite-wont-resize-correctly-white-space-around-slides/.)
So unless I can get the Sidenews modules to work without it, or them both working together, this template is useless to me, and anyone else who doesn’t use your templates EXACTLY as provided (and let’s face it, who does!?) Let’s please get this resolved.

January 23, 2013 at 4:46 am #480850It seems that you unpublished the slideshow module. However, as I can see the Sidenews module is working now. I also try the same in my local site and it works.

January 25, 2013 at 4:11 am #481086I have found that the Side News sliders only work properly when JA Slideshow Lite is published somewhere on the page. I’ve moved it to module position-9 in hopes of using it as an advertising rotator, since the Side News modules won’t work properly without it. But I’d rather get them working without Slideshow Lite published, and use an advertising rotation module that’s designed for such things.
Please help me resolve this, because I am unable to get the Slideshow Lite working in position-9 correctly. This is definitely a template bug. I repeat. If you unpublish the slideshow, the side news modules don’t work properly. They get “stuck” in the up position, showing the text, instead of the pictures. They are frozen that way, and do not change on mouse-over.

January 30, 2013 at 8:30 pm #481749Very strange thing happening now… I got the SideNews modules working in SITE OFFLINE mode while I was busy developing, logged in as super-admin. But when I set the site back to public (site online), in preparation to demo my work to my client, the SideNews modules suddenly and mysteriously got stuck in their “up” position again. It’s totally bizarre! They work in site offline mode. They don’t work in site online mode.
And now I’ve got this meeting any minute to demo the site to my client, and I can’t set the site to public to show them, or it will break. I will have to leave it in offline mode and have them log in to see it working properly. Bad form, but what else can I do?
I will PM you my FTP account info as soon as my meeting is completed, in hopes you can help me sort it out very quickly, please.

February 1, 2013 at 3:33 am #481935Hi again,
Yes, I got it and here is solution applied in your site:
– Open file: modules/mod_jasidenews/mod_jasidenews.php
at line 51, add this line: line 51 add :
JHTML::_(‘behavior.framework’, true);
– Line 31 in file templates/ja_mero/tpls/blocks/footer.php
change
<?php $this->addScript (T3_URL.’/js/jquery.equalheight.js’); ?>
to :
<script type=”text/javascript” src=”<?php echo T3V3_URL.’/js/jquery.equalheight.js’; ?>”></script>
Your site is working now, please have a look at it.
