March 19, 2008 at 9:43 am #126726Well, this was perhaps one of the simplest templates yet. Don’t get me wrong, simple can also be good but this was too simple I think..
Well, only 10 days til the next template, so I will wait to see what the team can whip up by then..

March 19, 2008 at 10:26 am #242549Yeah, but we had some requests for it 🙂 It’s a faster loading template without a lot of addons.

March 19, 2008 at 2:30 pm #242568I thought that it was a little to simple also but I did notice how fast it loaded. There are many that will like this.
March 19, 2008 at 3:00 pm #242574I think it would be easy to modify and thats a good thing. I am just hoping it can work with some modules. It says on the page that its 1.0/1.5 compatible. How is this? I want to use some 1.o modules and components

March 19, 2008 at 4:15 pm #242584Too simple for me as well, but then again, I don’t run business sites.
I would like to give Kudos to JA for the warm shade of green and orange they chose for this template. I wish they had coded Barite in these colors instead of that nursing home green they used.
Come to think of it, how could I use this nav bar on JA Barite?
March 19, 2008 at 6:14 pm #242601Very simple but very tastefully done. Great job!
I’d like to see more of this but with more module integration out of the box. Shopping carts, galleries, newletters instead of login, and any others you can think of.
Very well done.:D

March 19, 2008 at 6:46 pm #242603I actually think that the template is very nice . . . . especially for a business site. Flashy – though certainly fun – isn’t always better. This is one reason why I think YooTheme’s templates have falled off of the mark over the last several months … too much flash, not as much targeted theme.
Remember, you can always add your own flash to your hearts content.
A template is only a STARTING POINT.TOM

I actually think some kind of tutorial on how to mix-match items from one JA template into another would be an invaluable resource to offer. I’ve often loved the bulk of one template, but wanted to integrate the navigation scheme of another. Not being the greatest PHP whiz, this kind of thing is a bit intimidating to try.Perhaps, with enough interest, we can persuade Menalto or another one of the JA Development Team to write up a tutorial for this kind of process.

</blockquote>
I second that. For instance, I would love to have the effect of the Ajax headlines that is on Ja_Rochea here : http://www.joomlart.com/templates_demo.php?template=ja_rochea , to display with the Slide show on Edenite to describe the images that are showing.
Does anyone know how I can use Ajax headlines to do this and make it to appear on the slide show?
Is there some other slideshow module that will allow me to specify text or description of the images in an xml file or directly in the module? As we have it now, the wordings for the images are written on the pictures directly.
Any tips would be appreciated.

March 19, 2008 at 8:05 pm #242610I think it would be quite hard to have tutorials showing how to mix and match wouldn’t it, considering all the different coding for each template and CSS changes needed for each template. Its not just a simple cut and chop much of the time!
March 19, 2008 at 8:08 pm #242612I think think template does just what it is supposed to.

Which is exactly why step-by-step tutorials would be of great value. The purpose of writing tutorials is to take an otherwise difficult task and break it down for others to follow and understand. I don’t know about you, but without the instructions, it would take me 3x as long to contstruct one of those IKEA cabinets. 😎
