March 10, 2011 at 1:24 am #161254I’m of the opinion that IE6 is an end of life browser, but my client is not of the same mind. Aparently his friends are all using IE6 as well. The site loads about 90% and then freezes in IE6. I have disabled the IR6 warning, but it doesn’t help. Is there a fix for this problem?
Using: Joomla 1.5.22, JA Droid
Also, i got the error below tonight. Can a JA staff member take a look at these two problems?

March 11, 2011 at 2:25 am #380830JA Templates do not support IE 6 anymore. If your clients still uses it, please convince them to upgrade. We can not experience advanced features, newest technologies with a 2000 year browser, please understand.

Yeah, I hear you, but the site should at least load in IE6 even if it doesn’t look good. Saying you don’t support IE6 and telling me that I’ll just have to accept it is not good enough. How do I at least get the site to load in IE6. There must be a script causing the site not to load. Let me know.instantinlaw Friendinstantinlaw

March 13, 2011 at 8:29 pm #381128JA are not the only club not to support IE6 anymore. RT and Yoo have also stated the same. I tried to force Droid to work with IE6 and just found it was not possible even if you just use Moo menu. The changes are just too much.
An interesting article about the security of IE6 – http://www.pcworld.com/businesscenter/article/191356/its_time_to_finally_drop_internet_explorer_6.html

March 14, 2011 at 1:59 am #381147Don’t get me wrong Phil, You’ve known me for a long time and I’ve always been one of the JA cheer leaders, but although we all know IE6 is a dead issue, JA should at least provide a version of the template that will at least load in IE6, even if it looks like the hand held version. At least that way I won’t have my customers thinking they got ripped off because they or their cave man friends refuse to upgrade their browsers. This template won’t even load the “shame on you, why don’t you upgrade” pop up. If that at least worked, I could explain to my client that thier visitors can upgrade their browsers with the pop up, but no, the pop up won’t even load. What good is a pop up telling you to upgrade your browser if it won’t show to its target audience?
Ok, don’t support IE6, but at least offer an alternative that can be viewed by IE6 users. By the way, it doesn’t work on Safari 3.0 OSX either. Fortunatly, that browser only holds a 0.01% share of the market, so I’m unlikely to hear about that one. I’m still a little pissed off that I have to field my clients complaints, when it is JA who is dropping the ball here. Thanks for your comments though.Phill ModeratorPhill

March 14, 2011 at 7:57 am #381217I’m in the office now so do not have access to IE6. If you can tell me a good way to test with IE6 then I will see if I can at least make it load. I cannot promise anything though.

I don’t get notifications of new posts anymore since they went to the new forum. I’ve made posts about it and notofied staff but they never fixed it. Anyway, here is a post I made with tools to check sites in IE6, but I don’t think they are going to help. Here they are: http://www.joomlart.com/forums/topic/check-your-sites-in-different-browsers/ and the link to the site is: http://jmdremodeling.net/
Let me know if you discover something I was not able to, and thanks for your time.Phill ModeratorPhill

March 16, 2011 at 9:10 pm #381722I shall try tomorrow.
As for the forums they have once again been upgraded today but still have some problems like quoting when you don’t ask to etc. It may have been that in one of the upgrades your settings for subscriptions may have changed. Please go into your account settings and in the “General Settings” you will see “Messaging and Notifications”. One of the settings in there should be the default subscription mode. If you set it to “Instantly using email” hopefully that should restore the functionality.

I haven’t been able to get a notification for well over a year and closer to 2 years.

I’ll buzz Arvind as mine works fine. It could be an email address incorrect somehwere but I only have the same access as you.

Yeah, I know. Arvind is very helpful though, he’ll probably be able to straighten it out. I haven’t really cared about notifications for a while though, but now it is kinda important. ThanksArvind Chauhan ModeratorArvind Chauhan
