Can I nominate one of mine please.

    http://www.windsurf.me.uk

I’m no pro designer, just obsessed with windsurfing so spent quite a bit of time on this.

The most popular area of the site is the gallery. I have been using Coppermine for a number of years and now assist with support on their forums. The gallery has quite a few modifications and is integrated into joomla with the mehndi bridge.

On my old Joomla 1.0 site I used phpbb2 which integrated well using the same authors bridge as above but he has not yet written a bridge for 1.5 and phpbb3. I experimented with Jfusion and phpbb3 and wile I got it to work there are still to many minor bugs in the beta of jfusion so I currently use Fireboard which while many people slag it off I find quite good.

I have modified the core of joomla to allow any registered user to add links to the links page. This section is also popular. The layout is achieved using the allweblinks plugin.

The links map I am thinking of dropping. I hand coded that, my first ever php script. Unfortunately, the forma have quite a few problems and if any data is wrong it kills the google map. I have yet to find a plugin that will do what I want but am open to suggestions.

The video reviews allow comments using jomcomment and I may extend this to some other areas of the site but at the moment I am just testing the component.

For registration and contact pages I use security images by walter celador. It was the only way to stop the 100 or so spam registrations I was getting per day when I first set up the site on J1.0 and walter has done a great job of building the system for J1.5

Other things installed are mainly SEO/SEF related

As for the look, the Zinc theme is excellent. The top logo was just stamped on the background to fit nicely. I had to edit the template code to prevent the JA logo showing but this is quite simple. I am no artist so doing the logo is the bit I find hardest.

It also took a lot of figuring out converting the site from Joomla 1.0 to 1.5 but the mtw migrator component did a great job leaving me to then have to edit all the articles as Ihad some custom css formatting in them all for my previous J1.0 site.

All in all I am very happy with the JA templates. I still have a few bugs to iron out but I will get there. At the moment content is the most important thing. I am currently getting about 8000 unique ip hits per day. Windsurfing is a very small sport so I doubt I could increase that. The site is well known on many windsurfing sites and I want to keep it that way with regular fresh content.

I’d like to nominate my company’s website for the site of the month contest

    URL: http://www.metamar.com.tr

Yes I am a member and my domain is licensed.

It has been online for a month now and I already have people from all over the world coming to see it. If I win I am sure to get a raise! 🙂 I fell in love with Ja_Uvite. Wood as a background for stone products seemed like a good choice.

    Thanks
