Cool site, BUT the Greenpeace Banner on top? The banner should be placed at the bottom or inside the page. Whenever adding a banner on top, one must be aware that it first lowers the quality of the site, reception wise it always reminds of a banner farm or free site that desperately tries to get some Google Adsense money with a banner on top. Okay, here it is a Greenpeace Banner but still, this banner is maybe 1/6th of the width of the complete wrapper and really does not fit there, also when it is a banner for a non profit, when a Greenpeace banner is a must there on top, then one should place a large one there, like 800px wide.
The second thing is the poll at the bottom. The si or no text must not be so far away from the left! The whole poll module looks unfinished and strongly empty. This one should rather be placed on the right column or one gives it a workover and styles it a bit, so that it does not look like so unfinished.
The third thing, when hovering the top menu, the tooltip, the standard tooltip of the browser comes up and stays right on top of the text I like to read. Here, one should use an JS Tooltip instead, one that can be coded a bit to display the tooltip in the left top of the container but not right bottom where the menu folds out and text should be clearly readable without this yellow window covering it all the time. Or, disable the standard tooltip, it is anyway not needed there.
Fourth, thing, the Moo or JS Menu used is going below the Videos when hovering it. There one should add a matching z-index so that the div of the menu is displayed above the video, or simply move the video modules one position lower or a bit to the bottom, but the z-index would be better as the large video on the left center position seems to be there with reason. And also there the menu div goes below the videomodule.
Fifth thing, the module with links to articles next to the poll module. There one must add a top padding for the inside content. Right now it seems that padding is set too low for the top region. When adding a nice 20px padding-top, the text inside would have some needed free space from the top border and would gently be placed with right proportions.
Allover a very nice site!

</blockquote>With all due respect I will take some issue with this statement that you claim as fact. Advertising banner placement, at least here in North America, is very common on the top, especially for media outlets.
The site I am (very slowly) developing has a banner at the top. Why, because we have an affiliation with a major media (television) company here in Canada and they told us we had to.
http://www.sypfantasyhockey.com (I am not nominating my site…it isn’t even close to finished yet). Here’s some other sites with banners at the top. All muliti-million or billion dollar companies. Do these look like “banner farms” to you?
http://www.nhl.com/
http://www.tsn.ca/
http://www.sportsnet.ca/
http://www.pga.com/home/
http://www.nfl.com/
http://www.muchmusic.com/index.asp
http://www.mtv.ca/I could go on and on and on. Point is, if your site gets enough traffic to warrant selling advertising, then there’s no problem putting a banner at the top of the page. Many companies won’t advertise unless their banners are at the top. If your site gets 10,000 hits per day, well…advertising here for that position is going for about $12/CPM. That would be a cool $120 in your pocket per day….or $3600/month…just for that page!!
If you have a website and you KNOW what your demographic is, major companies will pay big bucks to advertise their products there if your demographic meets their target market.
In the other hand, if your site gets 200 visitors a day and your banking on Google Adwords cheques…I wouldn’t bother with ads at all. Or, as woohan says, at least not in your prime real-estate.
I also agree with woohan that if you do want to keep it there, it should be the appropriate leaderboard size.

Good site, with its forum, it seems to me very well done, the only thing there is too much blank space on the right side, and the ads it has on the left where it is not desirable, the first thing seen by the human eye in an image is the right side and you always ask the marketing side.
It’s just my humble opinion.
June 14, 2009 at 9:38 pm #307892Well seen.
We do not have any advertisements, those are only partners of our club association. And as you said, the human eye starts by the right side, which is exactly what we did, put the most important things on right and the partners, which are there only to show our different brand links on left 😉
Thanks for your opinion.
Regarding the blank spaces, that’s part of our improvement project. I don’t know yet if we will keep this template or migrate later to Sulfur. If we keep this, we will try to better use the spaces.

Very good work, but things do not look good in my reviews, the title of the category’s front page highlighted? The horizontal menu is the forum where the entire menu as bad aesthetic.
Is otherwise well. In my reviews.
