Here’s some other sites with banners at the top. All muliti-million or billion dollar companies. Do these look like “banner farms” to you?I also agree with woohan that if you do want to keep it there, it should be the appropriate leaderboard size.

They do look like it, and I never visit such sites personally, what does not mean it does not bring them money. But you compare a local site with billion dollar merchandise and franchise site, those are 2 different things. Sites of the local kind look more like banner farms when a banner is on top and the site is about arts and stuff. There I would include such bannners nicely into the content, between modules and articles but not 1 banner, on top.;)
As it is a Greenpeace banner and not an affiliate marketing link or adsense stuff, I mentioned it is something slighlty different as a banner farm, but as you also mention, the banner should be a leaderboard.
I would also say, okay, add some nice affiliate links to it, like Mercedes-Benz Ads via Affilinet or Zanox, where you know what you place and what your visitors see and the result will be something value enhancing indeed. But on this site, the small “banner” it is not a banner for real, looks kind of misplaced and created more a banner farm feeling as a spotlight banner on the MLB Homepage. And with all due respect, one knows the mass of people who are seriously spending their bucks into MLB, NFL and stuff, they have some little damage in their brains from drinking too much, so who cares there, it just matches their class.>:( This major league business is seriously money over b****s.;) You know that meaning, awsome stuff!

FWIW I frequent that site as I am a huge baseball fan…and while I may have damage in my brain it is not from drinking (or drugs).@theprofessor 132956 wrote:

This is my Fiction Writer’s site where I post stories and share news and commentaries about Speculative Fiction and other genres.

I was aiming for something that made for easy reading and had a clean but elegant look.
