Please vote in the poll for the winner of this month’s Site Of The Month competition! 🙂
Domains that were nominated however are not licensed were not added to this poll. If your nominated site does not appear in the poll, please contact MiCCAS for more information on resolving the problem.
Please also note that this poll is not the final poll, as votes will need to be filtered to ensure that all votes were made in accordance to our rules.

    It’s May’s poll Phil.
I fixed the typo. MiCCAS is being overworked and probably missed that when he made the poll. He just posted the June nomination in another thread.

All the sites this month are great, but I’ve narrowed my decision down to 3 of them. I’m just waiting for one of the sites in this month’s contest to fix the IE abort before I make my final choice.
    Good luck to everyone!

I agree. Some really fantastic sites this month.

Firstly, I discounted the two sites that hadn’t bothered to create a favicon … so quick and easy and yet makes the site so much more professional – so I’m afraid no favicon = no vote from me!

ojopelao.com is a nice site, but to be honest, just scrolled and scrolled and scrolled. Over 12 full screens worth of my laptop, which is just a bit much (but that’s just my opinion).

railwaymuseum.lk is OK. But whatever was loading top right (a video I expect?) still hadn’t loaded after eight minutes, all the other site had, so I gave up.

The other three are all nicely designed, constructed and easy to use. In the end, my vote went to McCurryRecipe.com … mainly because of the customisation and the clean, open layouts combined with sharp graphics.

(although I nearly decided against it due to the annoying “Register to download McCurry Recipe for FREE!!” flashing away in my face!)

Great sites everyone, please remember, these are my personal thoughts and not criticism of anybody’s work. Well done to you all.

I like finished jobs!;) But hey, on the second look, it is not finished… The link to online shop leads to an empty article and in Google Chrome some parts are not working correctly. But, hey, voted and good it is…

I will vote for the McCurry or Railway site have not totally made my mind up.

I could not read all the railway site because that steam noise was doing my head in…same goes for the annoying Register to download on the McCurry site.

The Kolgata has too many error for me, so I’m suprised its in the lead. (just my opinion)

Questbg Thank you very much, moving, not much understand it, is that I am very newbie, but I wondered if I had to correct errors, here is the part for it to improve my work, and I’m ready for your suggestions, remember that the site is a journal of news, thank you very much for your comments.

    The ojopelao.com site

Can I just say that to show images on your frontpage of people with their faces blown off, without warning people of such images, is in my opinion, done in very bad taste!!

You should maybe make the link to the online shop page to a “seperator link” rather than pointing to an empty page. You could also add some information on this current empty page, that the online store will be next.

The modules next to each other, catslwi or so, those do not show all content when hovering in Chrome…

But overall some really nice work!;)

Railway museum got my vote. Nice site and the UK’s National Railway Museum is in my City so maybe I’m biased.

Good luck to all this month’s entries, some good work there.

    Cheers,

    J.

    So I’ve made my desision!

    1. http://www.kolgatanoored.ee
I just can’t vote for a site I can’t see. I was hoping you would fix the IE abort error, but you didn’t and I can’t view your site. Too bad too because what little I could see before the abort looked good and you may have gotten my vote.

    2. http://www.wrightnetdesigns.ca
There is nothing wrong with your site. In fact I really like your logo, but even though I like sites with minimal design, I think your site is just a bit too minimal for my taste.

    3. http://www.israeltourismconsultants.com
I like your website. It’s clean and minimal and presents the info in a pleasing manner.

    4. http://www.railwaymuseum.lk
I didn’t notice the steam engine sound that anoyed Phil because I usually surf with my speakers off. I surf with the sound off for the same reason as Phil. Lets say that you are an office worker in a quiet office and you are surfing with your volume on high. How embarising would it be if all of a sudden there are loud steam engine noises coming from your cubicle? Anyway, besides that, your slideshow of the trains is cool, but it really looks like it’s out of place, being off to the right. You also have a component not found error when clicking on the SL RAIL HERITAGE link. I really wanted to vote for your site, but these things were just enough to stop me.

    5. http://www.ojopelao.com
Although it looks like you moved some of those front page articles, so that the page doesn’t scroll on forever anymore, you now have a big gap at the bottom of the main component. Being a news site there is nothing wrong with having lot’s of news on the front page, but there is just something about the layout that I’m not crazy about. I’m sure if you keep at it you will be able to make it look pleasing.

    6. http://www.washburnsservicenter.com
You have a really slick looking website and I probably would have voted for your site if it didn’t have two of the most anoying things on the internet. 1. A splash screen, and 2. A very anoying pop up telling me how you will be adding more content. Please just add more content and forget the pop up.

    7. http://www.mccurryrecipe.com
Again, there is nothing wrong with your site, except for that flasing banner to register. It’s kind of distracting.

In the end, for me it really came down to two sites to choose from.

    1. http://www.israeltourismconsultants.com
    2. http://www.mccurryrecipe.com

http://www.israeltourismconsultants.com is a very nice site, and if all the sites in this contest were minimal design, I would have voted for you as the clear winner. But besides the slight customization of http://www.mccurryrecipe.com, and the nice graphics, I really like a neck & neck race, so I voted for http://www.mccurryrecipe.com

To those who do not win this contest, Please do not get discouraged. Take any constructive critisizm from the members as helpful information and try again in another contest. Also, please note that there is nothing wrong with any of the sites I reviewed and I know that all your sites are a labor of love. My comments are just my personal prefrences.
    Good luck to all!
