Please vote in the poll for the winner of this month’s Site Of The Month competition! 🙂

Domains that were nominated however are not licensed were not added to this poll. If your nominated site does not appear in the poll, please contact MiCCAS for more information on resolving the problem.

You should have included a “none of the above” choice. I would describe all of them “plain vanilla”, they are not bad sites but there is nothing there that stands out.

Darn! beaten to the impression of “plank of the week” again!

PS. A little improper to put my site up at the moment as it’s currently a JS template until the customised template is completed and tested. Still, I’ll marvel at peacockquizzes.com until then!

There is always going to be one or two that try to spoil a good forum by slagging off other peoples hard work.
The sites that are up for site of the month, are all pretty good, because of the effort put in to make them….maybe thats the point your missing.

Too bad I can’t compare to yours. I hope when I see yours that it validates to W3C. http://validator.w3.org/

Just curious … how do you prevent cheating the poll? Maybe I am wrong but I would really like to know if there are many newly registered accounts that had voted … 😉

I feel that these comments will be lost on some because they are not reading what’s written but no-one has “slagged off” other peoples work anywhere in this thread although some have alluded that they would like to poke fun at mine if I were to put it up. My reason for not doing so is stated earlier and the rather daft comment about web standards is mystifying, did you not read the word “tested”?

I stated that none of the sites nominated were bad but also none stood out, hence the term “vanilla”. If someone here had a hand in designing one of those sites, then take it as constructive criticism that in this world of ultra competitiveness, they do not stand out – this is NOT slagging off anyone.

I am not missing any point, I could aim the same accusation at one or two here in response. My point is that with a top designer like JA, there has to be more than 4 or 5 web sites launched each month, if not then JoomlaArt is in trouble!!! and we all know that is not true.

A “web site of the month” award should ideally be decided between all JA web sites launched between the first and last day of the month but probably more realistically between those that actually put their sites on the “site showcase” between those same dates. This takes the “nomination” away from any one person, after all, who decides on the few sites currently nominated? This puts the vote back into the hands of the community and may be a partial answer to “bluecafe’s” last comment (and I am probably going to be told that those few sites WERE the only ones launched…c’est la vie!)

Let’s not forget that the web sites are being voted for on what people see, in other words the front end. We ALL know what the back end is and does so “the effort” put into making them is a relative term.

I am trying to remember a quote from the Joomla! forum that went something like; “what value has a community when it excludes even one member?” Surely, ALL web sites launched in the month of nominations should be included.

Maybe I am missing a point but it is not one that has been raised here!

I think your post was a good:) And i agree with you.
No bad words from me about the sites.
They have used nice templates which reflects the content for them.

God Buster what a rant……theres no need to start a mad debate….the sad thing is, you started your post with a BIG THUMBS DOWN….and said none of them deserved a vote, well thats your opinion, and your entitled to it, but it should not have been posted here.
This is where people (who want to come) make a vote to praise people for thier efforts.

Now if your remarks were placed somewhere else on the website, and you made a construtive argument like you have just done….that would have been a great topic which everyone would have joined.

And being rude calling people a plank is pretty silly!!

I thought it quite odd that overnight there were 20 votes for one site but maybe there was just a rush of voting. It would be interesting to know though. 😉
