December 26, 2009 at 1:46 pm #327525you can access it from the joomla backend cp
extensions/templatemanager/yourtemplatename (it will be the one with the start under default/
then on the top right you will see buttons, click on edit HTML, that will be the index file where you make the editMarch 8, 2010 at 6:18 am #335255<em>@padunic 153718 wrote:</em><blockquote>Hi,

Like what the other member stated, You need to copy and paste the meta name=”google-site-verification” content to be added to index.php as the last line before </head>March 8, 2010 at 9:16 am #335277Make sure to leave the link – as well – dont bother placing it on other pages in your site – not worth the time and really doesnt matter – just keep your sitemapp up to date and continue to check your indexed files. Cheers!
March 22, 2010 at 3:37 am #337131There are two ways that Google confirms a sitemap. One is to modify your home page code as stated in this thread. Another way is to upload via FTP a text file to the root directory (the “/”) with the code Google provides you when you submit your sitemap.
Then while you are in the Google sitemap login area you hit confirm and Google would check the root directory for that text file with the code they provided you. You can create the text file with Windows Notepad and the code Google provides you then up load it as mentioned above.
Hope that helps.
March 25, 2010 at 1:56 am #337659uploading a text file is more simple and easier to maintain rather than put it on your <head> section.
March 26, 2010 at 1:34 am #337815If I am following your question, you could just upload the specially named html file to your root folder of your site and verify that way. I always prefer that over adding additional code to my index file.
It is pretty easy to create the html file, just right click somewhere and go to new… text file, then name the text file as Google tells you to and add .thml to the end of the file name.
Hope you get it working right!

March 29, 2010 at 9:23 am #338225thanks for information 🙂
March 29, 2010 at 10:23 am #338238I didn’t notice anyone mentioning this, but there are a lot of great sites that will generate a sitemap for you. just search for sitemap generator on Google. I upload mine to the root directory, like the others suggested.
