My big concern about this template is its size and speed. The demo homepage links to over 20 different CSS files and countless number of Javascripts. I think I calculated the page size as 3002285 bytes.

Maybe I’m not fully understanding the”new architecture” this is built on. The template does seem to have every possible feature you may want for a newspaper type website. However, it looks unwieldy and impracticable for site owners wanting their site to load quickly and to present the average visitor with their content offering.

Have I got this wrong and misunderstood the way this template is built?

Thats what i thought also. Im a bit scared when i have 20 visitors on my site cause i guess the sql queries are also high or could i be wrong?

By todays standards this is not too big. The beauty is that you don’t have to use all the features. In the demo they are all enabled and it still runs nice and quickly.

SQL queries may be slightly larger than some templates simply because there is a lot of data shown on the frontpage but it is still not high enough to cause even the most meagre of servers to struggle.

Once you start using the template you can turn off any features you are not using, remove any css you are not using and generally optomize it for your needs. If this is the style of template you are after then I do not think you will be dissapointed at all.
