Is it possible to eliminate the thumbnail slider completely? All I would like is a rotating set of images on the front page.

Yes, you can config them in module config(in Module manager, you choose slider module), you can see some paramater to config, you can read descrtion of each paramater by hover image on label.

Thank you. I guess I was looking for an ‘on/off’ button of some sort. Changing the number of thumbnails to zero eliminated them from display AND removing the five .png files from mod_ja_rsslide got rid of the graphics.

After removing the thumbnails and two slider arrows, how does one remove the transparent rectangle at the bottom of the slider (served as background for the thumbnails)
