In the administrative module, advanced options, thumbnail mode switch to “using image source.” I believe it solves.

Nopes, only if the css and the rest got fixed.
where do you place the slideshow images if you select “From Articles” as the image source?

I see how it’s done so I’ll answer my own question….
The image is in the article but is commented out.
