I would like to create a portfolio slideshow with homepage screens of some of the websites I created. What would be the best technique for taking screen shots of these websites and scaling them down to fit into the slideshow? I tried using PrtScr (print screen) and pasting the image into an editor to scale down, however the shrunk down images and text get scrambled and result into a poor looking screen shot. I guess what I really need is a vector image of the homepage which would scale down nicely. But how do I obtain that? Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

Use jing its a free screen capture program for windows and macs from Techsmith, save as ,png then you can edit without losing focus etc.

    Hi Christine
I missed this piece of software also by Techsmith . . . Snagit 10, (30 day free then buy), but you can edit the image, save to most graphics formats, but for us web designers it can capture scrolling (full page) web site images!! 🙂

    Check it out here http://www.techsmith.com/screen-capture.asp

    Cheers Shannon

    Hi Shannon,
I was looking at their other software and saw Snagit. These guys seem pretty creative.

I also found another utility, Pearl Crescent, which I really like. It installs as a plugin in Firefox and it allows you to save the content of the browser either as full page or just the visible portion. You can save as png or jpeg.

Thanks again for the good info.
