Hi..
I faced an issue because of smart search component. Smart search creates a Table in the database > Finder_terms

On my site the total size of the Database is 275 MB .
And the Finder_terms table size is 215MB .
This issue is related to the joomla, because its a default joomla extension.
But As i can see this extension feature is Recommended by JA In all Of the templates like JA Magz .
.

I hope there must be some tweak to restrict the size of this Table .

Thanks in advance
Regards

Hi,

Actually, Smart Search creates more than one table:

To find best ways to manage your resources while running this plug-in please read:

Hope this helps.

thanks for reply .

I will wait for some one from support team to give solution on this problem. 🙂

@ dpchap015,

You can just clear the index of that search here: Components -> Searchindex -> Delete index

And all the tables will be empty, you should turn it off afterwards: Extensions -> Plugins -> Choose type “finder” -> Disable all the finder-plugins

http://prntscr.com/3e7btr

It´s used for the search suggestions with the smart search module. It won´t work with an empty index. as long as it´s active it will continue to index new content on your website and write those huge tables in your database.

Hope this helps.

HI @nazario A if disabled the plugin it means that the smart search will not work anymore .
This is not the solution , you are telling me to disable the useful component .
As you know the smart search is recommended by the Joomlart in all the templates , so please provide the solution .

please read my first post again
Hope you understand what i am saying .

how to fix this problem?

@dpchap015,

I understand your concern but you’re not only the person who face this problem when using this com_finder. You can make a search in Joomla forum and see some threads discussing about the same topic.

We recommend this smart search in our templates because it generates fast and accurate results in searching. However, in order to have such great search results, it creates a complete index of your site all the time which will take the storage.

If you’re worrying about the storage rather than the fast searching the smart search has, you can disable it (as Nazario suggested). Should you care more about the storage, please consider to use the old search of Joomla which is not efficient and as a result, it won’t take any space in your server.

I believe you know this finder is default component of Joomla, we often override layout/style default exts from Joomla, we don’t change their core function, all concern/fixes for them you can raise/find in Joomla community.

@dpchap015,

How is this issue related to Joomlart templates? Please limit your questions to bugs of the template only, we are not obliged to provide support for Joomla. You know it well that its a default Joomla extension, and our template has nothing to do with it. Please do not overload support with Non-JA questions.

and i recommend you to upgrade to JA Developer account if you are using personal account for developing sites for clients.

Regards

@drarvindc: I am sad to see such a reply form such highly reputed member form JA.
Unfortunately we are Global Education Technology Community and web media platform delivering top quality education technology news and research to over 170 countries and territories. We are not web developers as you think just because we post queries.

If you can offer help/solution i would really appreciate if you can stop posting unacceptable replies

Hi there,

It’s nice to see you mentioning making sense because the following does make full sense:

@dpchap015 422786 wrote:

…This issue is related to the joomla, because its a default joomla extension.

And, with due respect, holding JA accountable for how Joomla core stuff work or doesn’t work doesn’t make sense whatsoever.

– doesn’t make sense. Please produce a solid proof where JA uses Joomla “Smart Search” in it’s advertising or pre-sales materials and I promise to eat my hat.

My dear friend Alex, anything that you guys supply with your Quick Deployment Package – The so called “kickstart”; is your responsibility as i am using the same package.
So please stop covering things with quotes that make sense to you and which don’t.

BTW, its your package with your template that has something called “Smart Search” and since you guys are providing it to me which is always enabled with a dedicated menu for it.

I am not here to fight with you for your baseless explanations (which was not expected and required). Only reply if you have solution to the issue.

dpchap,

We are not going to support anything beyond our own product. Lets be clear on that.

I have replied to you earlier also on the same topic. JA product support only and be polite to the mods here. I do not think asking mods to reply only if they have the answer you want is going to help you.

Read my earlier reply again and expect JA product support only. We would not provide support for Joomla! or 3rd party products.

Arvind
