I have Joomla 1.6.3 with the JA Business template running on a local machine. I’ve configured mail and it works with a newsletter sign up module on the front page. I receive emails from data entered into it. The site appears to be working except when I return to the home page I received the following errors:
SMTP Error! Could not authenticate.
SMTP Error! Could not authenticate. The home page is the only place that I see these errors.
Anyone have an idea of what is wrong?
Thanks

July 6, 2011 at 3:45 am #400029Hi Halogen
Seem your problem because how did you config mail funtion in Global Configuration. Please let me know how did you do ? And very helpful if you can send me live URL with super admin account via private message.
RegardsJuly 6, 2011 at 2:33 pm #400123Thanks for the quick response.
Here are my mail settings (hosted by Godaddy)
Mailer: PHP Mail
Send path: /usr/sbin/sendmail
SMTP authentication: yes
SMTP Security: None
SMTP port: 25
SMTP Host: relay-hosting.secureserver.netI will PM superuser details.
Thanks again.
July 7, 2011 at 12:02 am #400161I now have another problem. I uploaded my site after working on a local machine and extracted it using Akeeba Kickstart. It worked flawlessly the first time but now it does not seem to improperly make the configuration.php file. I used the previous configuration.php file version but now all my menu links are broken. I will PM superuser login and ftp information in the event that you need.
Thanks,
Mike
July 7, 2011 at 12:06 am #400162I guess I should tell where my site is.
Sorry, I’m a little flustered today.www. halogensys.com
July 7, 2011 at 12:52 am #400163OK. Menu links on my site are working properly now. I forgot to rename htaccess.txt. I still seem to be having the email problem. The emails are created but don’t ever reach me. Joomla says “thank your for the email” but it never gets to me.

July 7, 2011 at 3:33 am #400173Hi
I checked your site and didn’t see that error: “SMTP Error! Could not authenticate.
SMTP Error! Could not authenticate.”
And when i went to Global Configuration, i saw that you change SMTP authentication: to No.
You should config like below:
Mailer: SMTP
Send path: /usr/sbin/sendmail
SMTP authentication: yes
SMTP Security: None
SMTP port: 25
SMTP Username: your user
SMTP Password:your pass
SMTP Host: relay-hosting.secureserver.netSherlock FriendSherlock
