So is this template ever going to be updated for Joomla 1.7? I’ve been watching and have not seen any news regarding this template.

While we do not have any definitive information in relation to this issue we can provide at this time, what I can say is that – in addition to the tasks of continuing design/development of our monthly JATC and JMTC releases, as well as addressing various issues that are identified as possible bugs and/or needed improvements for the core functionality of our templates/themes – updating all of our J1.5+ Templates for/withJ1.7+ is a very time-intensive process.Nevertheless . . . and especially with the upcoming advent of the next Joomla LTR (long term release) in J2.5 (currently slated for Jan 2012) – I already know that our JA Development Team is working on preparatory updates of our JA Products for J2.5 . . . which, I have to believe, includes updates of many of our most popular and dynamic JATC Templates and JAEC Extensions.
While I certainly understand the appeal/allure of “the latest version” in terms of (in this case) the latest version of J1.7, rest assured that J1.5 remains every bit as robust, functional and vibrant as it was when it was first released (and was “the latest”). If the current version of JA Kyanite II has everything you want/need for the website you envision … then I say WHY WAIT?J1.5 is/was the last LTS (long term support) release – with J1.6 and J1.7 being “interim” update releases. When the next Joomla LTS is released – in Jan 2012 (which will be J2.5, by the way), there will be methods to update/migrate from a J1.5 site to a J2.5 – provided all of the components you are using are compatible with J2.5 (which they all eventually WILL be – just as they were/are for J1.5).
So, given that it may take even longer for all of the components you want to utilize to update for J1.7/J2.5, my recommendation to you – at this point – is to go ahead and start developing your site with JA Kyanite II now (no time like the present). Believe me, even if you eventually elected not to upgrade for another year or two or three, etc., you will be operating every bit as strong/dynamic/robust a website as any other.
Whether you start now or later – either way – rest assured there will be modes for you to upgrade your JoomlArt template based site to the next LYS (long term support) release – which will be J2.5 (currently slated for Jan 2012). In fact, see this extension (JUpgrade) –> http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/migration-a-conversion/joomla-migration/11658
I am told this WILL be updated for migrations from J1.5 to J1.7/J2.5I hope this has helped address you inquiry – as well as provide you with some additional information for thought.

May 2, 2012 at 5:39 pm #451094WIth Joomla 1.5 reaching end of life (no more support) at the end of April 2012 (now in the past), I too need to know if this template will ever be upgraded to 1.7/2.5 compatibility.
If the answer is “we’re working on it but can’t give you a date”, can you at least tell me what the best 2.5 compatible template I could/should switch to would be? I have to get this site migrated from 1.5 to 2.5 and can’t wait much longer.
Thanks!

May 4, 2012 at 1:30 am #451330Hi patrickegan,
As I know there has not a plan of upgrading this template to 2.5 compatibility at this moment 🙁 , if really you need to upgrade this template to joomla 2.5 you can find a talent freelancer to get help, it’s hard to tell you the best 2.5 compatible template you should switch to, take a look at joomlart template showcase to see out which j2.5 template you like best
