    Hi,

I’m currently building a site using Mendozite and whilst adding content I have noticed the social buttons (twitter / facebook etc) that were displayed previously at the bottom of each K2 article have disappeared.

If I look at the source code of the page I can see the <div class=”itemSocialSharing”> with the 3 buttons being called but they are just not displaying. All I can see at the bottom of the article is the word ‘Tweet’.

Any idea why this is not displaying? I have set them all to display in K2 categories and they were there before.

    Thanks

    James

    Hi James,

Which version of K2 are you using? I just tested this template with Joomla 2.5 and K2 version 2.6.7, these social icons still display fine.

Also make sure that in settings of menu item which that k2 item belongs to, you set to show these 3 icons:

(If that menu item displays only 1 category, it will inherit settings from that category then you need to check the same settings in that category)

Hi Saguaros, Many thanks for your reply.

    I’m using v2.6.7 (in Joomla 2.5).

I have the settings the same as you have shown and the buttons were appearing until the last few days. I’m wondering if there’s some kind of javascript or CSS conflict as the code to show the buttons is there, they just don’t show??

I suppose I’ll have to work through the plugins / modules one by one to see where the conflict is.

    Thanks again

    James

If it doesn’ come from plugins / modules, you can switch default template (JA Mendozite) to another standard Joomla template (like Beez5), if problem still persists, then there must be problem with K2 itself.

Hope to hear good news from you 🙂

    Hi Saguaros,

Well, I found the problem and am embarrassed at the cause :-[

After checking with another template, going through the plugins & modules one by one, none of which solved the problem, I happened to see a green ‘blinking’ on my toolbar in Chrome.

I had completely forgotten that I had installed the ‘DisconnectMe’ app in Chrome and as soon as I whitelisted my site, the buttons re-appeared. It seems that this app blocks any attempt from a site to connect to social media!!

Thanks again for your help. Hopefully, if someone else has a similar problem, my stupidity will prevent them from making the same silly error.

    Cheers

    James
