In the Facebook feed articles something is increasing the size of the thumbnail images which creates a large pixelated image along with the main image so all my articles are doubling up on images. is there any way to stop this please?

Did you compare image size of article with source? Because if you import to articles content, image sizes is depended on image source.

not sure if you are understanding my problem. please let me explain again. every feed that is being pulled in from Facebook is reproducing the image twice. please see attached sample

Oh, i am sorry, i thought it is crop image method of k2 . Please try to import destination to Joomla articles .
