August 19, 2011 at 8:29 pm #167595Hi. I have a few questions…
I am trying to figure out the frontpage of my site. I have an article, and it’s posted to the frontpage. But there is a title at the top of ‘Main Body” section of template that says “Welcome to the Frontpage” How do I get rid of that? (again, it’s at the top of the Main Body module position, not the top of the browser.
Next question is, when i make the article in the normal joomla article way, my pictures show up blurry and behind the text, it never looks like it does in my editor (jckeditor).
3rd question. I am really trying to figure out this K2 thing. I just do not really get it. Is it mainly for blog type sites? I’m not going to have a LOT of content, so i’m not sure i’ll even need it, but how do you make the articles you build in K2 show up on the frontpage?
and finally, i am looking for a good photo gallery component….one that is easy to add pics from the frontend if possible (that way i don’t have to worry about them messing too much up when they want to add pictures:)
THANKS TO ANYONE WHO CAN HELP!

August 19, 2011 at 9:14 pm #407164To get rid of the “Welcome to the Frontpage” item, that is typically controlled by the home menu item under Page Options.
For the picture problems, can you send an example? maybe a url?
K2 is for a wide variety of purposes – but if you’re not going to have a lot of content, and the content you are have is going to be “standard”, meaning just the basic articles with images, etc. Than you probably don’t need it. If you do use it though, to get it to show up on the frontpage you’ll just open the home page menu item in your control panel, and change the menu item type to a K2 article of choice.

The home menu changed the title on the top of the browser for me….but I can NOT find where to to change the title on the top of the main body module – right above the frontpage content – it still says welcome to the front page. ?? The site is not live yet, I could pm you a admin name & password so u could take a look?

August 21, 2011 at 10:10 pm #407503That is in a language file so it can easilly be translated. Edit the file administrator>language>en-GB>en-GB.plg_system_jat3.ini where you will find the following language strings amongst others.

August 22, 2011 at 9:49 pm #407748can you please provide a link to your site?
We can’t see anything of your site to possibly diagnose what is wrong without being able to see the site.Phill ModeratorPhill

August 23, 2011 at 5:01 pm #407958Yes, I got your PM and am investigating your site now. Currently I can see you have some slideshow setup problems and I am looking around the rest of your site to look for other problems. It would be great if you could post a screenshot of the affected pages highlighting the problems you are having.

August 23, 2011 at 8:31 pm #408008this is what it is doing to my text when i put in a picture.
i try to place the image like under the first paragraph…on the left…and this is what it does.
If i put it in as an image button it works (found that out accidentally)

August 23, 2011 at 10:44 pm #408027Ahh, now I understand.
JA has a plugin called JA Thumbnail which automatically resizez images to fit the frontpage layout. There is also some css on the frontpage so it can accomodate those fixed size images. If you put image dimensions when you place an image it can also get distorted because you are resizing the resized image.
Anyway, part of the css sets the position of the text on the page. If you want to use a larger image than specified in the original template design then you also need to adjust the css to position that text in the correct position.
Does the problem only occur on your frontpage?
Can give ma a link to the page where you are seeing this problem.

August 24, 2011 at 3:53 pm #408190I’ve put the site live temporarily so you could see… it’s on the frontpage, http://www.mirams.info/
i resized the image and uploaded a new one and put it on the page without resizing, still messing it up.

August 24, 2011 at 6:51 pm #408207You are putting dimensions in your images. Forget that and use the JA Thumbnail plugin o resize the images for you. Just make sure you do not put a width and height in the article for thoss images. Once you have the size set that you want you will need to edit your css
Template.css at line 317
.fp-article-content {
padding-left: 145px;}
