    Hi,

I am using Joomshopping extension what came with template Ja_Tiris.
I am simply trying to have one category in one row? and another category in the another row below! (http://www.artistgates.com)
The idea is to have product 1, product 2, product 3 from one category in row one and,
product 4, product 5, product 6 from second category in row two (below).

    I selected:
Amount of products on page 6
Amount of products in row 3
Amount of categories in row 3 (attached picture of this part)

Whenever I refresh page all products are changing randomly their position! It is not fix!

Is there any way that I can set up this order to be fix by my desire? If it is how to do this?
Sorting in the categories is at random at the moment (I guess by default)!?

Thank you in advance for your time and support to address this issue.
    Branko

    Hello,

First off, thank you for your quick replay. In addition, I tried to follow up a link that you suggested. Unfortunately, it didn’t help! Beside Joomshopping setting I tried to play with “product” menu as well. Whenever I change anything in product list menu it looks like that does not reflect the order of the product. I tried to set up it to be the same as it mentioned in suggested link! My guess is: that this setting my not work for reason I was playing too much in Joomshopping setting —> Configuration —> Category / Product —-> List product. (attached pictures of both setting option what I have).

Is there any other suggestion/thoughts how to fix this?

My product on the web site are still going in random order instead of static order!

    Thank you,
    Branko

    Hi,

It looks like you are selling six products – would that be right?

On the menu item Home we have to set and fix the way it works. Otherwise no matter what we do it will pick random every time.

So for the menu item home choose JoomShopping/Products.

On Required Settings, ‘Show’ must be (-) if you are running JS 3.2.7 or (All) if you running JS 3.4.2 or 3.5. Now every time you clcik home or logo it will return the same state every time.

In JS we can adjust the state you want to see it in. How do you want it to show? Alphabetically? Would make sense with the names of your products no?

    Hi Swissa,

At the moment I would like to sell six product – right.

I tried to find option what you mentioned: On the menu item Home -> product —> fix. I can’t find that features “fix”. I am glad that you point it out that number of product should match “Amount of products on page”. I toughs that will solve this problem >:( Not yet!

I do have version 3.5. I send request for help to their forum as well but unfortunately nobody is responding yet form their side.

However, I would like to know how I can assign each product to be shown in the order who I would like?
At the moment I do have two categories listed:
    Search Engine Optimization
    Website Architecture

My idea is to have in first row product listed by this order:
SEO – Level I, SEO Level II, SEO Level III (attached picture)

In second row below should be listed by this order:
Business Web Site, e-Commerce Web Site, Education

Instead using Alphabetically order is there any other way to do it? If not, I’ll go by the way what is possible. My idea it was to have one category in one row, another category in another row and so on. If there is any way to use product code in order to seal product on the page it would be perfect (I know how to change product code :D), there is also product ID what can be used maybe as a parameter for order (but It looks like that I can’t change that).

Anyway, I apologize for taking much of your time in order to solve this issue. On the other hand it will help me a lot to learn this tricks.

Once again, thank you for your time and support in regard to this matter.

    No problem Branko,

For me, as I know the product very well, it is easy. I just hope I can explain it better!!

I know perhaps I’m not making myself clear.

When you assign the menu item in menu manger there is a choice to show from JoomShopping “Products/Random”. This will over-ride any other choice we make within the component JoomShopping. So we don’t do this.

If we “fix” the menu item – (so we make it controlled from the back end not here; i.e. so that is NOT random) – by using ‘-‘ or ‘All’ then it will not show products in a random order but rather how WE set it in JoomShopping.

So the real secret to this is doing this part right. Set it to ‘All’

Does that make it a little clearer?

Going into the component JoomShopping and the screen you already picked
    http://www.artistgates.com/administrator/index.php?option=com_jshopping&controller=config&task=catprod

    You can choose.

If you choose “Predefined” for all three it will pick as default in the following way –

I show the first category in my list (the top one when you look here – http://www.artistgates.com/administrator/index.php?option=com_jshopping&controller=categories&catid=0 ), and then I will pick the products in the order that they are here – http://www.artistgates.com/administrator/index.php?option=com_jshopping&controller=products&category_id=0

You can play with the ordering there (put seo as first category, wa as second) and change it to change the order of both the categories and the same with the products.

I hope I made this clearer, if not I hack a screenshot together.

    Swissa,

First off, I am glad that I am in touch with the an expert who knows this product well 🙂

My menu item was previously unpublished. When I got your first replay I saw form that link what you sent that those guys solved their problem by using menu item (not joomshopping) settings. However, that’s why I turned menu item on and tried to solve this issue. It is wonderful to know that menu setting if is in used that will over-ride any other chose at joomshoop component. At this moment I think my menu item setting is not reflect any changes what I made on it so far. I am not sure why!? In addition Swissa when you talk about menu item I guess you are referring to this picture (attached-menu item)

    Swissa:
If we “fix” the menu item – (so we make it controlled from the back end not here; i.e. so that is NOT random) – by using ‘-‘ or ‘All’ then it will not show products in a random order but rather how WE set it in JoomShopping.
So the real secret to this is doing this part right. Set it to ‘All’

Hmm, I am not sure if my menu item is connected with joomshopping at all! My products showing even if menu times is unpublished! I relay having trouble with this. Is there any way that you can log in and try to fix it? I left my log in information what when I open this question. Should I send it to you directly?

I show the first category in my list (the top one when you look here – http://www.artistgates.com/administr…gories&catid=0 ), and then I will pick the products in the order that they are here – http://www.artistgates.com/administr…&category_id=0

This sound reasonably but it doesn’t work in my case! It is still Random. I relay don’t know where and what else I have to change. This is my second day trying to solve this issue! This steps sounds great but doesn’t work. It dose not show by that order. It would be great if it works so I can find out how to change order ID and it I would be able to make it how I would like.

If you do not mind Swissa let me know if you can do it for me or if you can give me advise to whom I should contact in order to solve this issue.

Once again, I apologize for taking too much of your time. I couldn’t find documentation for this extensions what I thought can help me to solve this problem.

    All the best,
    Branko

    Hi

First off, I’m just another Tiris user like you so I don’t get messages for Joomlart and secondly I have my PM off so that any other community members don’t put themselves at risk of sending just anyone their login details. 🙂 I’m sure the mods will pick it up and step in if needed.

I’m going to do this in a couple of posts if that is okay.

Your home page is the menu item that shows the products on the front page. See this picture. Go to your menu that says HOME.

This should solve how products are viewed on the front page. Once that is done we can go to the component itself. And then sort out any other problems.

    Now in the backend,

    you can sort your categories.

Products either sort by their ID so if you want to change that you may have to add the product again to get them in the right order, or by name or by date added, or by price. On the front page or wherever you have a list of the products this will always happen this way.

Once you have done that it should come correctly on the front page.

Take a pause here to see how you’re doing! 🙂

So far, I don’t see that you have anything to apologise for! And you are showing big patience.

Ok, did you make a backup? If not, please do. Backups are life-savers. I learnt the hard way by having to do it all again. :((

First thing would be to move your home menu back to the left, or in your menu manager to the top. You can use the little blue arrows to do this. Hit the up one on it and it will move up one at a time.

I think you have solved the problem of the ordering no? It looks like it to me when I load and reload your site.

    Hm,

So in regard to product ID it looks like that I have to delete some of them in order to have them in 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6…. order.

My goal is actually to have few items listed of each category on the first page.
    For example:
    category “A” has items: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
    category “B” has items: 6, 7, 8, 9, 10

In the first page I just would like to have in first row of one category first 3 items.
    Should be this way:
first row, items from category “A” are shown: 1, 2, 3
second row, items from category “B” are shown: 6, 7, 8

I already try to play with it and when I added item 4 in category “A”. Item 4 showed in second row in the first place. So it looks like this:
    first row: 1, 2, 3,
    second row: 4, 5, 6

So when I add one more item in category “A” it pushing that item to second row.

I really hope that I am not making crazy confusing here 😉 Let me know Swissa, If I am sound difficult.

    Cheers,
    Branko

Thank you for you tip in regard to back up. I thought using the one that we do on joomla is enough!?

What is the benefit of this one? Should I pay for membership or is it free?

P.S. And I have to tell you that you are patience as well 🙂 that is very nice, and I am most grateful

I’ll answer this one and then read your other post!!

Thank you. I am always learning too.

Yes. Akeeba is by far and away the best product to do backups. It is free, it is brilliant and I think that every moderator and support member and probably every developer at Joomlart uses it! It is that good. I do not have any sites without this installed.

It allows you to restore your site in less than 10 minutes, move it quickly and because it so good and so reliable it gives you so much more confidence.
