March 27, 2007 at 1:36 am #119375Hi I still haven’t got my brain around the table-less CSS system – I use iJoomla News & Magazine components – which use tables – so I’m trying to fit a “Table” of known paramaters into a template of variables and %ages and it is driving me so crazy I might have to dump Xenia & use a table(ed) template — and loose the other neat benefits of Xenia Shoopping.
Here’s the problem:
1<> I need to reduce the space between Left col & Vertical shade – I’ve reduced the Left Col (http://www.joomlart.com/forums/topic/changing-left-module-width/
2. Again Space between the content (modules & content pane) and Left vertical shadow – padding?
3. Same issue on the Right Side
4, Reduce space in the modules
5. Basically I want my central content to expand in width and I have played but I get a white overlap over the Left col when I widen the Main content.. !!!

Can you include a live url, the image is so small its hard to get the verall idea of whats happening here, I was under the impression that the iJoomla magazine plugin was more for a standalone construction than integration into an existing site?

March 29, 2007 at 4:18 am #216778Hi,
Here’s an example of what I mean
http://www.packwebasia.com/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=10529Note
1. the gap between the Shaded bar “Recent Titles and the vertical Content pane shade = I need to reduce it (get rid of it – probably)
2. Widen the whole content pane
3, Reduce padding on Right
4. Reduce Right column widthIn tables on 980 width: I’d do something like: (from the Left)
L table 140px | margin 4px | content 688px (padding 2,px + 2px )| margin 4px | Rtable 140px
Here’s a bigger image – Top is what I have – below is what I want to achieve.
I’ve flipped back to my old ‘table’ template for the iJoomla front page – not Ideal but it will do.
NB: iJomla IS a stand-alone page design but still needs a template (obviously) and works quite well with JA templates

It IS a mess isn’t it but I can’t really see any ‘enormous gap between the left title etc its only a padding issue with the module settings I suspect there is a post elsewhere on this forum dealing with this type of thing I will try to find it for you
I’m wondering whether it’s easier to rethink a bit of layout than spend frustration chasing pixels? Like do you need the scrolling display at all, on the left etc? is a static display better ?
The news menu even though transparent kills the effect of the scroller when used, use a default left menu kill the scroller on the left put it on the right if you must have, if you make no right modules and 2 column layout the content panel will be wide enough, resize the icons in the library that break the frame, rather than try to adjust the frame to suit
a suggestion replace the items in the scroller (and scroller) with your own custom made graphics and adverts into the Ja header module far easier to position looks better and allows customized information
I think redoing the layout and a rethink is needed rather than looking for the css, html and chopping changing etc ?
While I haven’t solved you initial problem I hope I make sense?

March 30, 2007 at 4:33 am #216856Point taken about the scroller – actually it was only there to demo to margin problem – I didn’t much like it anyway!!! 😉
The VMart page isn’t the main issue but the Home page (which I flipped back to my old template till I work it out!)
