Unlike the demo site ( View ) which keeps the split submenu visible when you are viewing an article within a particular section, my site closes the submenu.

The strange thing is that the mainmenu which is visible in the “right” user position stays expanded and highlights the correct submenu for the relevant article.

Why isn’t the default menu staying “expanded” (split submenu visible) in the same way?

Any help appreciated.

Joomla 1.01 (site on local server until I get it sorted)

Hi hainn84 – thanks for the reply. I’m sorry but this site is on local server right now but to put it simply, with splitmenu active, when I click into a top level link, the page reloads and the submenu items (linking to category blogs) are visible. If however I click to view one of the articles the page reloads again and the submenu is gone. (so its not clear which section of the site the article you are viewing belongs to)

Yes , i have understood this problem , this is problem in get itemid . I think that this problem appear when the article which you select don’t belong one of categories or sections on menu.

Yes hainn84 , I’m familiar with this problem. The strange thing is that, I have a menu module in the right column (for testing) and this works perfectly (this menu module uses the famous “extended menu” module.

Please check again . I have unpublish footer menu and Magazine menu. seem your problem have fixed. I think that your problem is : there is some menu still store a section.
