In using JAmesolite ii with virtumart.

Will adding a SSL Certificate to virtumart effect the template in a bad way, pages not loading, etc.?

I have read on the net that certain joomla templates can get really messed up doing this.

    the website is http://www.ecig-skins.com

I just got a ‘positive SSL’ from Comodo and are trying to get it to work properly.

When I goto https://www.ecig-skins.com and it does something but it’s not right.

I thought the address bar should always be ‘Green’ with an SSL Certificate, it only shows as white though.

Also when I click on my icon in the address bar i get this message “Your connection to the site is only partialy encrypted and does not prevent eavesdropping”

dunno if it has anything to do with the template files or not or if any files need to be modified.

For joomla/Virtumart, trying to get the website to be in https for when a new user signs up and enters their info and also from when they are logged in, everything is https. When they logout it switches back to http.

Kinda no point in having a SSL Cert if address bar isn’t green…

    Any help is appreciated

    Hi,

Yes i know what you mean, if you want your SSL to show the green bar on most web browsers you have to spend some money for that.
You can probably understand what i am saying if you read this chart over here – > http://www.verisign.com/ssl/buy-ssl-certificates/compare-ssl-certificates/index.html

Yes I read that and contacted my hosting place and that said it only shows a small blue bar with my website url that you can click on to get the SSL Cert info, but it wont even show that.

In firefox I can goto here and it does show up: https://ecig-skins.com/ghfhgfhjg.html

Its a 404 error page but the ssl cert works for it, just not when I am in https mode
and thats only with me logged in as a user.

Also, logged in, if I click on the product images, the little popup box that shows a larger image of the product has the correct info displayed in the address bar.

    Hi,

Did you try to redirect your site to https instead of http ? I can see that when i go for https:// it redirects me back to http:// ( there is a joomla setting for that on Global Configuration ).

The only thing I can see for SSL in the global config is a server option to Force SSL to none or the entire site. I only want SSL for loged-in users.

You can login with this user: water passw: 12345678

If you click on one of the product categories(Animal Skins), then click on the Bumble Bee picture on the right side, the popup window will show the address bar correctly where you can click on my url and it will show SSL Cert info. It just doesn’t work that way with rest of the site.

    Hi,

I just tried that and i can see what you mean, i guess you have to redirect the all site to https .

I validated it with my hosting place and they said the ssl is working properly.

They said you might have a script calling a file from another website such as:

    <script src=”http://www.anotherwebsite.com/filename.js”></script>

or you might have an image from another source like:

    <img src=”https://www.anotherdomain.com/filename.jpg”>

The solution is to ensure all files/contents to be displayed on the page are from within your account using something like:

    <script src=”https://www.ecig-skins.com/filename.js”></script>

    or

    <img src=”https://www.ecig-skins.com/filename.jpg”>

On my home page, i removed all visible links pointing anywhere other than my site, every link i moused over was to my url, but it still did not work.

So I gotta go through every script on my whole website and look for http:// and change it to https:// ???

wouldnt that mess up the functionality of the website? pages not displaying correctly or not at all?

Or I am misunderstanding what they said?

    Hi,

If you are hot linking files or images then maybe this might be your problem, unfortunately you will have to search all your content if you mistaken on any external link.
