If you get errors when installing the sample data, you can skip that step and do it after you finish your installation.

    Here’s how:

    1. Open the file /installation/sql/mysql/sample_data.sql with a text editor
    2. Find and replace every #__ with the prefix you used in your database when installing Joomla. It is jos__ by default. The Joomla install wizard also will show you what it is..mine was hary7_ or something similar.

#__banner (there is two _ ) with “Find and Replace” becomes
    hary7_banner

    3. Save the file and open your dababase manager. On 1and1, where most people have this problem, click MySQL, phpadmin, click the name of your database on the left side, wait for it to load all the table names, then click the SQL button top left, select the import tabe, find the file, press Go.

If you get an error about the database go back and make sure you click the name of the database (i.e. db3907075857) or whatever it is and try again.

If everything goes well, the next time you open your website you’ll find a sample page.
