February 8, 2009 at 6:57 am #137890Hi Everyone
I’ve got a really strange problem trying to upload images in the backend Admin. :((
I’ve set up the FTP config in Admin exactly the same as my FTP client. Using the FTP client I can access the /images/stories/otherdirectory/ no problem and FTP images.
However, if I try doing this via Joomla in the backend, once I click ‘Start Upload’ it gets to around 98% complete then gives me a “Upload Failed (401)” error.
I’ve been on to my hosting company and they’ve been ‘fiddling’ around for the last 48 hours, but still no solution.
It has to be site specific as I’m hosting four sites on my VPS and I only have this problem with one of them. The other three are working fine when I upload images via Joomla.
I’ve cleared cache, tried other browsers, etc., but no success.
Has anybody got any idea what could be the problem?
Thanks

</blockquote>Sorry, I wasn’t quite clear enough! 😀
It’s not a big problem for me at all, as I use an FTP client. However, today I’m creating some user manuals for my staff using screengrabs in the backend. I got to the ‘Image Upload’ part and that’s when the problem occurred.
This has stopped me with the training manual as they will have to upload images via the Joomla backend, no way I’m letting them loose on the server with an FTP client!
Thanks

February 8, 2009 at 10:27 am #290093Go to Global config>System>Media Settings and see if the max upload is low. By default it’s 10,000,000 bytes which is big enough for any image usually but you may have set it lower at some stage?

Strangely enough, it’s about 88% via the Media Manager when I get the 401 error.

Very strange!
