In the agreement it is told:
“Sub domain (john.yourdomain.com) and the main domain (yourdomain.com) will be considered as 1 domain.”

It means that in subdomains I can use different templates, or all subdomains should have one template ?

You can use different templates in your subdomains and it will be considered as only 1 domain.

Just like you can change your templates on one domain you can do the same for your sub domains.

Are you sure this is right? You could have many client websites hosted in subdomains. Wouldn’t they each require a license?

    Client1.mydomain.com
    Client2.mydomain.com
    Client3.mydomain.com…

…and on and on. Sure they might have their own domain name pointed at client1.mydomain.com, but in the verify section a person could really cheat and only use the subdomain for that. I think there has to be more about subdomains otherwise you could use JA on hundreds of client sites with only one license… then why buy Developer’s license?

Its stated quite clear in the terms of use:

1.1 JA CLUB MEMBERSHIP: The domains and licenses are various depending on the length of your membership and you can see the comparision HERE new window. You can change to any templates released during your membership period on the licensed domain. Sub domain (john.yourdomain.com) and the main domain (yourdomain.com) will be considered as 1 domain.

And under your member area it states:
Licensed domains are the domains on which you are entitled to install our templates. The membership you purchase specifies the total number of licensed domains.
The following cases are not counted as licensed domains:
    – Localhost
Any sub-domains of a licensed domains

What does that mean? So you could host as many client sites as you want on sub domains of your main domain and not have to buy additional license? Why would I then want a developer license…. I am very confused on this. I have nearly 60 sites hosted on sub domains of my domain. Most of them don’t even have their own domain name. I do not sell hosting, just put them on as a favor because most are non-profits. Anyway, just doesn’t make sense.

    Please clarify.

On joomlart you dont purchace a template licence, you buy a domain licence.

    And what JA states:
    * Sub domain (john.yourdomain.com) and the main domain (yourdomain.com) will be considered as 1 domain.

    So yes you could use:

    John.yourdomain.com
    http://www.yourdomain.com
    imsleepy.yourdomain.com
    bennitos.yourdomain.com

And it would cost you only 1 licence for yourdomain.com.

Wow I had no idea! Still need a developer license for all the other sites I might change, but that is really interesting.

    Thanks for clarifying!

When adding a domain to be verified, do you also add all the sub domains where templates are used, or just the main domain?

I have only installed templates on subdomains pure for testing only so i never really put one if to licence (altho the main domain was licenced)

So far all sites i did where on different domains.

But you are right this can be very interesting if you use subdomains alot.

That would make no sense, as when you license the domain, you ultimately license any subdomain there potentially can be. When you now have a top domain with another clubs template and have one from here only on a subdomain, you simply also license the top domain not the subdomain, not only because you do not want/can’t make a subdomain of a subdomain just because you licensed your domain from the particular subdomain on only but should have done it with the top domain, so you can also create other subdomains with JA Templates on them or do this with any already existing subdomain below the licensed top domain without having to use another license for another subdomain.
