I have Joomla 1.0.11, Zibal template and menu 2 chosen but it doesn’t matter which menu is chosen because this problem appears in all of them.

I have 5 links on the top “son of suckerfish” menu and no matter what colour scheme I am in, when clicking on the 3rd, 4th and 5th menu items the backing does not change to the colour scheme of the template, instead it remains the default semi-transparent Grey whether in Firefox or IE – this gives it a little lopsided look.

I have looked through the CSS files but it could be written in esperanto for all I know!

I have again tried uploading a visual image 40px x 20px and 9kb in size to illustrate this problem but again JoomlArt upload is broken!!

    Hi Buster,

Do all other menu work but suckerfish? Do you try to reinstall your joomla and the template? If the menu still does not work, please give me a link to explore it.

    Hi Buster,
The images upload problem has been fixed, can you try uploading the screenshot again.

Unfortunately, the image upload problem is still there!

    Try the live site http://www.lyme-regis-dorset.co.uk

As mentioned, this problem exists on all menus and it doesn’t matter whether the main menu is published or not, it still doesn’t show properly. The links behind the tabs still work its just that the first two tabs have a template coloured backing to them when live.

    Dear Buster,

The problem is your 3rd and 4th menu point to contents under the Directory section (the 2nd menu item). The sef component when parsing your url will understand that the 3rd and 4th menu items are sub-items of the 2nd menu.

thank you for your reply. This should not have anything to do with sub items or sub menus. If the link is on the menu bar then it should function as the rest of the links. As this is not the case, it is down to a design fault or maybe even a result of overdesign? Surely there is a simple solution even via CSS?

If there is no quick and easy fix for this joomlArt problem, I suggest that maybe a fourth option should be included in choice of menu and that is the standard Joomla “Top Menu” by which basic funcionality works as it should.
