September 3, 2008 at 9:38 pm #132921To Joomlart Staff:
Hello,
Unlike many other JA templates, the Teline II has been fixed many times. However, since 5 August 2008 for example, I am aware of at least three changes to fix specific files The “latest” official date in the changelog date listed 29-Aug-2008. Which was not actually posted until the following day. As of this date, 3 September 2008, theree are several “bugs” or modifications reported, that may or may not have triggered update of specific files.
If at all possible, the Joomlart staff who uploaded the latest version must be identified.
Why is the upload date critical?
Unless you follow all the forum postings, looking at the Teline II download intro page (see below) does not give you any clue that there were numerous changes since 5 August 2008 Thus, those who download between August 5-30 August 2008 thought they have the latest version, but in reality have different versions of Joomla 1.5.x-Teline II..
The impact of the inaccurate upload date information is that quite a few of the postings in Teline II of bugs or errors would not have been necessary — wasting both the time of the posters and responders, as well as those of Staff who had to inform the original thread poster that the “error” had been fixed..

September 3, 2008 at 10:27 pm #268586Just wante to add,
VERSION Number on downloads and extentions. Like it was in the previous JA_Teline_II__for_Joomla_1.5.v1.6 then it is just to do v1.7 v1.8 etc. Same with extentions just add the v#.# at the end and at the name.BosseP

Thanks Bossep,
A good example to emulate is the Joomla updates themselves:
http://docs.joomla.org/Joomla_1.5_version_history
Yeah, I should clarify that there must be more defined nomenclature for the QuickStart Kit. For example:
- Joomla 1.5.6-Teline II v1.6.0 QuickStart Kit
- Joomla 1.5.6-Teline II v1.7.0
=> for the most recent version as of to date)
=> this indicates that the Joomla1.5.x was not revised but there were further major fixes in the Teline II template
and for defined nomenclature fo the extensions;for example:
- mod_janews_vj.6.0zip
- mod_janews_fp_vj.6.0zip
- mod_ja_catslwi_vj.6.0zip
- plg_jazin_vj.6.0zip
- ja_teline_ii_template_vj.6.0zip
Note that if there was no change in any of the aforementioned extensions did not have any files changed, there must be no change in the version designation, such that at some point, it may be like this:
- mod_janews_vj.6.2.zip
- mod_janews_fp_vj.6.0.zip
- mod_ja_catslwi_vj.6.0.zip
- plg_jazin_vj.6.0.zip
- ja_teline_ii_template_vj.9.0.zip
the above status suggest that there were no changes in the
- mod_janews_fp_vj.6.zip
- mod_ja_catslwi_vj.6.zip
- plg_jazin_vj.6.zip
only two minor changes in the files in the JA News module
mod_janews_vj.6.2.zip
but three (3) major revisions in the Teline II template component files.
ja_teline_ii_template_vj.9.0.zip
Why are the above distinctions useful for the extensions? Those who would want to use the “uninstall the old – instal the new” need only to perform the process with the revised extensions. The easiest way of course would be the use of the Teline II Patch (Fix) Update, which will be discussed separately.
More precise nomenclature
I guess what I was thinking was the situation before, like there were several Joomla 1.5.6-Teline II v1.5 between August 16 to 30 before the release of .Joomla 1.5.6-Teline II v1.6 QuickStart Kit on the 30th August 2008. How best to deal with this?
- Joomla 1.5.6-Teline II v1.5.0
- Joomla 1.5.6-Teline II v1.5.1
- Joomla 1.5.6-Teline II v1.5.1
- Joomla 1.5.6-Teline II v1.6.0
=> this means first release of the -Teline II v1.5.x
=> this means further minor updates of the -Teline II v1.5.x
=> this means further minor updates of the -Teline II v1.5.x
=> this means comprehensive fixes and major release of the -Teline II v1.5.6
each one should include the actual date of release to further confirm any release and avoid any confusion in versions.
Cornelio

By the way Bossep, do you have the software to create the zip file? My Mac computer has an old OS, while it creates zip files, I cannot open the created zip files properly
