    Hi everyone,

I have modified the JA Labra template and I’ve made two other templates. One is more complex and the other one is simple (faster loading).

I would like to change the template dynamically via the URL parameter. In the old 1.0* Joomla versions this could be done by assigning &jos_template=’template_name’ and in Joomla 1.5* this can be done by assigning &template=’template_name’, please correct me if I’m wrong.

The problem is that the 1.5.5 could not remember the new template assignment. The template does indeed changes, but whenever I hit a link in the page the template switches back to the default one. I found in the Joomla extensions directory a template switcher module but I don’t want to use it. You see, I have a flash movie in my site with links to the new template names, so I would like to be able to switch the template from the flash movie, and of course stay at this template until a new assignment via URL will be done.

I remember using this feature with the old Joomla versions without any problems.

I’m desperate  , any help would be great!

thanks in advance and keep up the great work.

    Hello vagskou,
The solution you’ve mentioned above is just doing temporary change to Joomla! template and only you can see the change. It’s not actually change in the database, and I guess you don’t want it change in database, isn’t it?

However this is the main issue in Joomla! 1.5.x and do not related to the template. I hope Joomla! team will update the core in the next release of Joomla!

Thanks for the answer. Yes indeed I don’t want to change anything in the database. Maybe I should try to get the posted template name from the URL and then try to write it in a cookie. Pretty much like the styleswitcher in your templates work.

At least you told me that it isn’t a template problem and now I know where to look.
