Just added a article to the site and it totally crashed. Anybody have any ideas how to reverse it?
i can still get into the joomla back end…but the main page is crapped out.

every single page has this error
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘<‘ in /home/yamemaru/public_html/index.php on line 89

even if you try to change templates the error still persists.

You have an opening bracket somewhere in the index.php where it shouldn’t be. You can try re-installing the template or removing the article (although I can’t see why the article could have caused this).

I just tried removing the article but it didn’t work. :((

I will try reinstalling the template now.

    /edit
I tried picking another template. but the same error keeps occurring.

    looking at the index.php file..
    <?php echo ‘<script type=”text/javascript”>var kXwYyisImklGFceJRVNL =

    that.s line 89.

Hi I’m not a coder, but i’ve found that thoes error messages do not always show the correct line the error has occured on. It is probably showing you the compiled code line. Let’s hope re-installing the template works.

something was wrong with the index.php file. somehow joomla magically created a variable that was in the wrong place.

    beats me…

well this was aparently a php tag error.

the problem infact in line 89 it appear th code

    "<?php 'echo"

when the previous php tag was not clossed. the solution remove the extra php tag and problem solved.

this is a perfect example for newbies in web and joomla, that the best way of solve a problem is a critical analysis of the problem the previous factors and the best way to solve it.

not all the problems are allways as easy as this. but many are originated by some syntax error
