May 16, 2012 at 12:14 pm #177123I have developed a news site that worked fine during development when the caching was disabled. When we launched the site, we enabled T3 cache by turning off the development mode.
After enabling the T3 cache, the site worked fine. But every now and then the front page layout looked weird. For example, the logo shifted to the middle, the top menu background was grayed out and the right colum became wider and not aligned with the SL1-3 modules.
Clearing the cache always fixed this problem. But this problem happened so frequently that we had to disable the T3 cache and enable Joomla cache.
Enabling the Joomla Cache speeds up the site which is a must for us. But we are starting to see new problem by enabling the Joomla cache. When a user accesses our news site from the mobile, the mobile front page is cached by joomla. Next time when a desktop user accesses our site, the cached mobile version is displayed until the cache is cleared (set to 3 minutes).
Our site is accessed by about 2000 visitors per day and loads are contents are uploaded everyday.
To recreate this problem, create a fresh install of the template and enable t3 caching. Set the caching to about 3 minutes and post contents. After few hours (6-24 hours) you would notice the layout issue. I would recreate this problem in a temp URL and post it here for further research.

May 17, 2012 at 8:33 am #453396Hi there,
You should check your site if it is using the latest T3 version. If not you should try to update the latest version and check if the issue is still there.
If the issue still occurs, please clone your site to dev host and PM me admin & FTP account of dev site, I will check it for you. Thanks,

May 18, 2012 at 10:02 am #453625Just noticed that I’m using the latest version of T3. But my site is still using Joomla 1.7 (JA Teline IV template). I have cloned the site at http://www.nayapan.com . Turned on the T3 cache and turned off Joomla Cache.
As soon as the layout breaks, I will take a screen shot and update this forum.
Here are a couple of questions:1. Can T3 cache and Joomla cache work together without any problem?
2. Is it a problem to use T3 2.5.1 version on Joomla 1.7 site?Thanks,

May 21, 2012 at 1:09 am #453929I’m having the same problem with my website.
Using Teline IV on Joomla 2.5. Was working fine until I turned T3 Cache on. It works fine for a while but eventually the homepage breaks (and only the homepage). It seems to add some extra characters to the beginning of the page that breaks everything. Clearing the cache works for a while (a few hours it seems like). I’ll have to grab a screenshot next time. Can’t recreate it in my development environment for some reason.

May 21, 2012 at 1:19 am #453934Okay here I caught the problem. Pasted the source of the top of my homepage (http://www.headstash.com). It adds some weird #s in the beginning.

Thanks I updated, and it fixed the issue! Also, how do I set the expiration of the t3 cache? When I add a new article, it takes a long time to show up on my homepage.

June 1, 2012 at 11:54 am #455623My problem was fixed when I upgraded my server with a better memory (RAM). I have enabled both T3 and Joomla cache. My site is working fine now.
I suspect the cache was not handled properly by the OS when it used to run out of memory. I am hoping that the problem will not resurface anytime soon. If it does, I would update this post.
On large sites using a conservative caching on with just 1 minute cache interval is a good idea.AuthorPostsViewing 9 posts - 1 through 9 (of 9 total)This topic contains 9 replies, has 4 voices, and was last updated by cifar24 12 years, 5 months ago.
