To see the issue please to to this site:

    http://joomlaadministrator.com/joomlartrulez/

then select a template from the dropdown list to the right and click on the link at the top of the article – Joomlart templates that are T3 capable will not popup the video correctly – whereas the older Joomlart templates will work properly. This is a fresh 1.5.21 install at go(slow)daddy with the latest 1.5 joomlarulez jwplayer plugin.

If you do not want to look through all of them, simply compare JA_Purity and JA_Purity_II – T3.

    Overview

The author has gladly paid monies to both joomlart and to joomlarulez for their most excellent products. Quite by happenstance there is an incompatibility between the joomlarulez jwplayer plugin and the joomlart templates that use the T3 framework. At least in all of my travels there has been.

I first became aware of this a couple weeks ago and opened a support ticket the response to which suggested that I change the method I use to display videos. I understand the sentiment – however – it seems that the jwplayer from longtail video which is currently repackaged as a plugin by joomlarulez is of sufficient importance to the community that it deserves attention.

To be clear, my interest is with a very specific part of the joomlarulez jwplayer plugin, and that is lightbox popup.

In a standard on page configuration everything works fine. It is only with the invocation of the lightbox popup that there is an issue because the video remains BEHIND the lightbox mask. This anomalous behavior appears to start with those joomlart templates that have incorporated the T3 framework.

At first I was not sure what was going so I set out a very specific method to isolate the issue and narrowed what I will call the “inflection point” down to the release of the August 2009 Teline III V1 template. The table below is a subset of ALL the 2009 and 2010 templates which I have researched and which – if requested – could be included as more evidence of the same. Please note that the Halite and Lead templates are excluded because their front pages do not offer a right module and a com position respectively.

The information below loses the table formatting in this post – it is easily readable at the above link to the site.

Template Year Month T3 Popup Works ?
    Urani 2009 December Yes No
    Seleni 2009 November Yes No
Kyanite II 2009 October Yes No
    Kyanite 2009 October Yes No
Purity II 2009 Free Yes No
Teline II V1 2009 August Yes No
    Mona 2009 July – 2nd No Yes
    Raite 2009 July – 1st No Yes
    Sulfur 2009 June – 1st No Yes
    Purity Legacy No Yes
    rhuk_milkyway Legacy No Yes

May I trouble Joomlart and Joomlarulez – or any other person smarter tham I am – to ponder this curiousity and offer a solution so these two important products can be used together moving forward. This seems to me to be a “systemic” issue the resolution of which would provide value in the community.

Thanks to all in advance for their time and attention
