Let me try inspecting your site. But it most look like 3rd issues.

I am very surprised it was Akeeba Admin Tools causing the problem

Their extensions are usually very well tested and used by many Joomla users

Common extension does not mean it’s no bug.
Please always make sure you can handle extension before install it or you’ll go with risky even security & backdoor issue.
