    Hi

I’ve noticed this reported a few times on the T3 forum and showing as solved but it is still happening for me.

When I change or add a new menu item all of my megamenu icons and captions disappear and also anything I have added to the custom code area. The T3 show logo is also set back to Yes. Not all settings are lost, just the ones I have ilsted. I’ve just made a change to a site I am building this morning and I’ve lost all of my icons and captions from the menu, I have left it as it is.

I’m using the latest version of the template and plugin.

If you could take a look I woudl be very grateful.

    Thanks 🙂

Did you solve it? I checked URL of your site and saw it’s working fine.

    Hi

No, I put it back as the client wanted to check the site, then I thought I had solved it by resintalling the Framework plugin but this afternoon I made a change to one of the menus by adding a class to the menu item and it lost all the settings again 🙁

Just to add more info, after it lost the settings I added an icon back in to the mega menu and a caption and set the show t3 icon to no and then went and amended a menu item and it’s worked fine, I then tried adding a new menu item and again it worked fine, I then made some more changes to the mega menu, changed another menu item and again its fine so it seems to be an intermittent problem but it has always happened after adding or changing a menu item if it has happened. Also to add, this didn’t happen at all until I upgraded Joomla and the T3 template and plugin 2 weeks ago, it was fine before.

    UPDATE:

I think I might have figured out whats causing this. I read on other threads that certain characters were causing this problem so I looked through my menu code for any characters that could be causing this, sure enough there was a ‘&’ in one of the captions, I added the caption back into the mega menu this morning, saved and closed the template and then went to the Joomla menu manager and made a change and the template lost its settings.

I can get round this for now by changing & to and. I don’t think I have any other characters so I’ll add the captions back in and update later today with how I get on.

Frustratingly I’ve just lost the settings again, luckily I had my mega menu configuration page window open in another window so I was simple able to resave and get all my mega menu settings back, it has however reset some of the template settings such as the T3 logo being on and off canvas menu is set back to on.

I’m really at a loss now as I can’t see any other characters in my captions that cold be causing this.

Because your site lives and I don’t want to touch it directly on your site, you can give me some info: T3 framework version and Purity III version did you get the problem?

Beside that you give me the screenshot and description steps to do what you are trying to do on your site. I will reproduce that bug from local.

    Hi

    I’m using T3 Bs3 Blank version 2.2.0 and T3 Framework version 2.4.8.

For now I’ve found if I have the mega menu admin page open in one tab and the template settings page open in another tab I can get away with just resaving the pages if the settings get lost, the site isn’t officially live, I’m just testing it on a testing server and adding the last bits of copy in before its due to go live in a week or so on it’s own server but it’s taking me so long to add all the captions back in that I’m loathe to try and keep repeating the error.

I did try removing some ‘ from the captions yesterday that I hadn’t directly typed into the caption box (I’d copied them from a word document and they looked different in the caption box to ones I had typed directly) and I retyped them in, again, since then it has been fine. I’m convinced its the characters like some of the other posters have said in other similar messages, its just a matter of working out which ones.

I’ve attached a screenshot and this is the caption I added yesterday where I got an immediate problem:

If you are looking for a rewarding career in supporting children & young people aged 7 -17 who are living in Ofsted registered children’s home, we would be delighted to hear from you.

I also check with development team for the issue as you mentioned above but we could not reproduce it, you can give me the the screenshot and description on that, it would help to understand the problem on your site. We will help you out.

I am having the exact same problem If you want I can get a demo site up and running but it has to be confidential I dont want any links online.

    Hi hennysmafter

I found removing any ‘odd’ characters from my captions completely solved my problem, I went through every caption, retyped any quote marks directly into the caption box, removed any ‘&’ and replaced with ‘and’ and so on, there may be others that it struggles with but these were the culprits in my case.

    Hope this helps you.

    Does this also mean

The characters I typed here are displayed as ??? So I have to give a link: http://www.starr.net/is/type/htmlcodes.html

A lot of these codes especially the a e u o with the : on top of them are essential in the German language.

When these symbols can’t be used then we can’t use the Megamenu in Germany. At least not the customer.

I have one ! as a subtitle could this be the culprit.
