This is a more generic issue present across a lot of templates, which are still riddled with tables.

Is there any intention of upgrading these archiaic-built templates to be absolutely tableless?

Even the more recent ones have a table with the blog class attached to it. Why it doesn’t make sense…

I kind of doubt we will see them remove tables from old templates. When you take into consideration we are down to 1 template a month and now their focus seems to be on multi other areas doubt old templates will get much love.

Many of these tables are generated by Joomla rather than the template. For example blog and FAQ pages. Sometimes JA provide template overrides (templatename/html/com_content/article etc.) and sometimes they don’t.

Tables used in this fashion are acceptable though IMO. It’s when they are used in the design of a page that they are a problem.

Joomla 1.6 will however, be totally table-less.
