June 5, 2012 at 1:43 pm #177838Template : Ja Teline IV
Version : 2.5Hi I have read the tutorials on how to create a tab page etc and am happy with this, however I would like some info on how to enable the tabs on to the home page in the position similar to the one on the demo site.
Thanks

June 5, 2012 at 5:09 pm #456104When you installed your template, did you do so via the quickstart+sample data process?
I ask because, if you did, then the JA Tabs display you see in the demo would have been set up for you (via the sample data install) just like the demo version.
Another option to review the settings/configurations of the demo version with those of your own would be to utilize
JA’s DEMO BUILDER as a tool to cross-check settings and such.sw82 Friendsw82

June 5, 2012 at 5:12 pm #456106Hi no I didn’t as I wasn’t too sure. This does sound like I should have done it that way though. How can I do that now after I have installed it the other way?
Thanks

Well, the only real way to do this would be to wipe the slate clean and start fresh – with a new/clean database and all.
If you haven’t already done too much work on your site, this shouldn’t be too much of a headache. However, if you have already performed significant work/modification on your site, I am sure you won’t be too crazy about starting over from scratch. In this case, my second suggestion about utilizing JA’s Demo Builder to review the settings and configurations of the demo version might be your better bet. (click the link I provided for you in my previous post for how to use JA’s Demo Builder)

June 5, 2012 at 5:23 pm #456118OK so if I delete it all and just install the quickstart this should be ok? What is the easiest way to delete it all to ensure I have removed ‘all’ the files? Thanks again

The quickest way, in my opinion, is to do so via your webhost cpanel’s File Manager – simply deleting all of the relative template files in one “highlight all + delete” step.Don’t forget to also delete your previous used database and re-establish a new one for the new install.
Then, simply follow THESE STEPS and you should have your virtual clone of the demo version.
NOTE:
Although some prefer uploading the files via the Extension Manager, I have had much more consistent success unpacking and uploading the files using an FTP client (in my case, FileZilla). Can’t really say why, but I have simply seen less issues after upload/install than I seem to see via the Extension Manager upload/install method.Hope That Helps

June 5, 2012 at 8:22 pm #456158Hi I just want to make sure I have this right. I am using quickstart for the template and not the whole Joomla download? As I don’t want to install Joomla again but just the template JA Teline IV. Thanks

The quickstart installs Joomla FOR you.Are you using this template as part of another template based site – as in an “all in one” type of thing, or is this to be it’s own stand-alone site (with it’s own independent url)? If it’s the latter, then I recommend setting up a new/separate folder on your web server and installing using the quickstart+sample data installation process …. again, which will install the entire Joomla CMS + the Teline IV template and sample data for you.
This is how I always begin when I start to work with any Joomla template – as it is much easier, in my opinion, to start with elements set up than have to try to re-invent the wheel and struggle with configuring them from scratch.

June 5, 2012 at 9:31 pm #456171:-[ Oh sorry I originally thought you meant within the template…. All this for the tabs .
I will try the demo builder at some point then. Will I have to reinstall everything (as in the whole template again) now or the quickstart. Sorry for being confused, I am new to this but am getting my head round it bit by bit.Sarah

June 5, 2012 at 9:38 pm #456172If this Teline IV based site is not going to be it’s own stand-alone site and/or if you already have too much custom content that you don’t want to lose, then do not use the quickstart+sample data re-install.
Rather, to try to figure out the JA Tabs configuration like JA has in the demo, use the DEMO BUILDER to review the configurations.
