February 16, 2009 at 2:01 am #291667A module that senses the tags or keywords of your content…and displays them in varying font sizes based on their popularity.

February 16, 2009 at 2:02 am #291668So it generates all these words automatically? What is the purpose of it? Other than looking really messy….

February 16, 2009 at 2:07 am #291672they are for your visitors to see which topics do you focus on cos each tag will have its own ‘weight’ (ie larger fonts represent ‘heavier’ items)

the links are supposed to bring the visitor to articles with the same tag as the one they click so they can actually choose to read items they are interested in

February 16, 2009 at 6:53 am #291713And yes…it generates them automatically.
In the JA_COOPER tag cloud you’ll see that BMV is larger than Hyundai…which means there are more stories which mention BMV than Hyundai. Sort of a “most popular topics” on a web site.
The Cooper tag cloud is really just a demo and doesn’t work. But if it did, when you clicked on BMV you would see a list of stories mentioning “BMV” and that list would be longer than the list you would see if you clicked Hyundai and so on.

jbrett, thanks for the info re: JA Cooper Tags Cloud module. I’m using JA Cooper Business on my site and want the Tags Cloud module to show the actual tags for my site now that it is nearly live with posts, etc. How do I make it do that? When I looked at the module itself, it had a bunch of text/links that were unrelated to my site’s content in the module which, once removed, made the Tags Cloud module disappear.
Thank you in advance for any guidance! I can’t find anything in the documentation about how to do this.

First off…welcome to the neighborhood!
Now to your question…first off I don’t have the Cooper template so I’m not exactly sure whether it has a Tag Cloud module installed. – The one on the DEMO is NOT a tag cloud module…just a demostration of what it might could look like.Goto EXTENSIONS > MODULES > and look for content in USER 10 position.
That’s where that Module in the DEMO is located. If you open it you’ll find its just HTML…NOT a module. Here’s where you can find a pretty good Tag Cloud.

November 12, 2009 at 4:14 pm #323418Ah, ok. You’ve confirmed what I thought I was seeing. I’ll check out the link for the Tag Cloud extension you reference.
Thank you for your quick and accurate response!
