    Hi Everyone

I have just downloaded and installed the “Content Table Localisation” Joomfish Plugin (build 1045) and I have a problem getting this to work with Teline II.

(I asked on the JoomFish ‘Club’ support forum and the JoomFish Developers believe the problem probably lies within the JA news modules).

I installed and activiated the Content Table Localisation plugin and it appeared to be working fine. Take for instance the ‘Latest’ articles in the English section:

And, switching to the Russian version of the site, I get the following:

Perfect, exactly how it should work.

The articles listed are totally different, as I haven’t translated the ‘Latest’ english language articles into Russian yet. So, as is normal with this plugin, the system has ignored the latest ‘untranslated’ english articles and ‘pulled’ the older, translated Russian articles into these lists. Again, perfect.

However, here’s a big problem for me. It hasn’t pulled any of my Russian translations onto the front page of the site in both JANews and JANewsFrontpage as it should:

On other templates, the extension ‘pulls’ older, translated articles onto the front page of the site. However, this doesn’t work with the JA template.

The front page should be full of older, translated articles in Russian. Instead, all I have is English language articles.

Any ideas for an urgent fix please, this is a serious issue for me and if it can’t be solved I will have to rewrite my site with a different template (not much fun after five months of development).

    Hi questbg !
is your problem content not translate in ja news, ja _news FP ?

    Hi hainn84

No. It’s a bit deeper than that!

If I translate an article today in JoomFish and publish the translation, then it will appear in JAnews OK.

However, not all my articles are published in Russian and French, some are only English. Also, sometimes I don’t translate the English articles into other languages for a few days or even weeks.

This is where the JoomFish “Content Table Localisation” plugin can fix this problem.

What happens normally, is this plugin ‘supresses’ non-translated content, regardless of the date.

So, if I publish 10 articles today in English, these go as usual to front page and JAnews positions, no problem. However, if I then put the site into Russian or French, it should ignore these English articles as they have not yet been translated into the other languages.

What should happen is that the plugin will ‘suppress’ these new English language articles and go and find the most recent Russian or French articles to fill these same positions.

    This does not work.

When I try Russian or French, only the English articles are appearing in these positions (as these are more recent than my French or Russian translation), where in fact, these English language articles should be ‘suppressed’ and the older translated articles should appear.

I asked the JoomFish developers and they say this works fine with most Joomla sites, but doesn’t work at all with JA templates using JAnews and JAnewsfrontpage?

I would really appreciate any support you can offer in finding a fix for this. At the moment, French and Russian visitors to our site are getting only English articles on the front page (unless I make translation of all these articles today)!

    Many Thanks
    Chris

I just sent new SuperAdmin details via PM.

Quick update: I spoke to the JoomFish developers yesterday and they say “Đ¢his is not an issue of the template itself, it is an issue of the JA News Module, that is not coded in a way to be Joom!Fish aware.”

    Good luck!

    Hi hainn84

The problem is not with the actual translation, I have translated lots of articles with no problems at all (please see very first post).

The problem is the ‘suppression’ of ‘untranslated articles’, which is done by the “Content Table Localisation” Joomfish Plugin (build 1045), and this is what is not working.

    I will try to explain:

Say for instance I have 50 articles translated into Russian, but these articles were published a few weeks ago. Since then, I publish another 50 articles in English, so these are more ‘recent’ than the current translated articles.

What should happen, is all the ‘untranslated’ articles are ‘suppressed’ or ‘hidden’ regardless of the publication date.

So, clicking on the front page of the site in Russian or French should only bring the ‘translated’ content to the site, no English articles at all because the plugin ensures that any articles that have not been translated yet are ‘suppressed’ or ‘ignored’.

Unfortunately, this doesn’t work and the system still pulls articles by ‘date’ and not by ‘translated only’. Therefore, rather than the front page of my site showing only Russian articles, it shows English articles.

The Russian side of the site should have only Russian articles, no English. That is what this plug-in does with other Joomla sites.

JoomFish is working fine, the problem is only with the “Content Table Localisation” plugin and the suppression of all untranslated content.

    Hope that helps.

Many thanks for your continued support.
