January 25, 2012 at 7:23 pm #173187For some reason whenever you try to open Teline IV using IE9 it always goes into compatibility view.
Pretty sure its a bug but I am not entirely sure where to chase this one down. Here is a description of the problem:
Shows up fine in IE7, Chrome, and FF. (not tested in IE8)
IE9 placement is fine just always crashes then switches to compatibility mode.If you use developer tools and force it to use IE9 standard document model it will just display a blank white or black screen.
I thought originally it was just something with IE and the site being on the intranet, but now after messing with every conceivable setting in IE and reinstalling the template 6 times both using the quick start and piece-wise i decided to check against the demo on your site and it does it there as well. (other templates work fine on intranet or internet w/o going into compatibility mode)
image of live demo site going into compatibility mode:
see popup at bottom of IE9 screen.
Then when it works it always has the blue broken page icon at the top when it works… I was wondering if this could also be related to another issue where the JA Tabs breaks and puts them in a column rather than side by side as if they are losing their style for some reason. Both only happen in the Teline IV template the tabs work fine in my other site.
I also am making a demo builder right now to show that screen shot, but it is taking longer than normal and I wanted to get this out, so I will post that screen shot later.
It doesn’t display improperly its just annoying that it makes that pop-up then people call me asking is something is wrong… making it even more annoying.
I also tried adding the meta tag “<meta http-equiv=”X-UA-Compatible” content=”edge” />” to no avail. so now I am seeing if you guys have any ideas on how to fix this…

January 25, 2012 at 10:09 pm #435458You could try restoring all the IE9 settings back to their default in the tools menu. IE9 is a funny beast at times.

January 25, 2012 at 11:27 pm #435467IE7 on another system on the intranet also gives me errors with nothing but the template installed (no extra components yet)…
I may just rebuild this template as it has costed me 2 days now and a fresh rebuild from the blank template will only take me that much longer, since I at least know it is not one of the extensions that is causing it.Great looking template but i can’t seem to make it reliable in IE on the intranet… but the blank template and any others that I try seem to work fine… So i’ll start from one of those and just incorporate the extensions and some of the styles from Teline IV to rebuild it. Shouldn’t be to bad.
Its just really annoying because IE9 won’t display any errors or anything just that it is going to switch to compat view…

January 26, 2012 at 8:09 pm #435593Ok solved it!
The problem is with the true types file. After i finally found the option in IE9 to turn off automatic recovery using compatibility mode – Located Here: Tools -> Advanced Tab -> settings box -> browsing -> Uncheck the following:
Automatically recover from page layout errors with compatibility mode
Enable automatic crash recoveryOther place is Tools -> Compatibility View Settings -> delete your domain from the list if it is present and uncheck the boxes below
– Then it will give you an error in the developer tools -> console tab:
“CSS3114: @font-face failed OpenType embedding permission check. Permission must be Installable.”
arial_narrow_bold-webfont.ttfit has to do with the permissions embeded in the MS True Types Font package. Its called the “embedding value”
To fix it you simply need a little utility from here:
http://carnage-melon.tom7.org/embed/
download the file: embed.exe
SYNTAX: embed.exe <font.ttf>
NOTE: does not execute on 64bit Computers so you will need to run it on a WIN32 PC (I used Windows XP 32bit VM and it worked fine)Then upload the fixed font file back to your site and it will not give you the error any longer and won’t go into compatibility mode.
It would be awesome if this was already done in the template THX!
