    Hi,

I am contacting your for several problems I am facing with JA MERO template.

Some details about my configuration :
    – latest version of JA MERO : 1.0.3
    – latest version of T3 Framework : 1.2.5
    – latest version of Joomla : 3.1.1.
    – by the way, latest version of the rest using JA Extension Manager 🙂

Caching is disabled in Global Configuration and Development Mode is activated in JA MERO.
Cache is regularly cleaned and purged (via extension Cache Cleaner by NoNumber).

So here are my three questions, the first being the most blocking one at the moment.

    1. Mega Menu not showing in Template Manager for several Styles…

I have 4 Styles because my site is multilingual : “ALL”, “EN”, “FR” and “NL”.
I have activated the Mega Menu for these 4 styles, but still the mega menu does not appear for all Styles… meaning I cannot edit them !
Strange enough, having tried and retried many times (!), it has happened *once* that the NL mega menu did appear for example (this is how I could make it appear in my front-end).
But it looks like it appears randomly… and generally not.

I don’t have a clue why this is so and I suspect some bug.

Here are the screenshots to make it clear and visual (FR working and NL not working) :

    2. Compile LESS to CSS : “Unexpected error. Please refresh the page try again later.”

Very annoying too (and I had exactly the same problem with template JA OnePage) : *most* of the time, the “Compile LESS to CSS” button does not work and shows “Unexpected error. Please refresh the page try again later.” instead of “Successfully compile LESS to CSS”.
At first, I had thought it was a problem of mistyping something in the LESS files (like characters with accents and so, or real errors in the code), but apparently not : indeed, sometimes, even without changing anything to my LESS file, I had sometimes a Success (and most of the time a Failure).
Does it have to make with a sort of Time Out ??

Here are the screenshots of failure and success :

    3. multilingual site : position for Language Switcher ?

I am always quite confused with JA templates because (so far 🙂 ) they never offer a Language Switcher position.
It is a pain in the neck because it is quite technical (especially with responsive design) if the user had to tweak with the template to create its own position. And even then : at the first update of the template you can loose all customization.

So my suggestion would clearly be to integrate in all (recent) templates a Language Switcher position.

But in the short run, for JA MERO, how could I deal with this ?
I have tried to put the Language Switcher in “head-search” position. Fine.
But what then if, like in my case, I also want to have a Search Module in that position ?
The layout becomes then a problem (relative position of the two modules, layout according to the viewport, …).

Txs very much in advance for your assistance,

    Marc

    Hi Joomlart fellows !

As pointed by Joan, we would really appreciate getting a solution asap.
Or if the solution is not so straightforward, to know what the status is (that you are at least busy with it 🙂

Given the fact my problem #1 hereabove is apparently the same as the one of Joan, it is two tickets done in one job…
    😉

    Hi again,
I have investigated a little bit further for problem #1 above (Mega Menu not showing in Template Manager for several Styles).

I thought “maybe there is a historical problem either with the template Style in question or with the menu which is called by the template style”.
So I created a brand new style and I created a brand new menu with its corresponding module, with the hope that this new template style would be able to show my new menu as a megamenu.
Well, bad luck, the answer is no…

So, to illustrate the problem more interactively than my previous screenshots, here is a little video :
I select a given Template Style, go to Navigation tab. There, I choose as “megamenu” each of the available menus.
As can be seen, the FR menu does appear, as the ALL menu.
But the NL and the EN menu never appear in the megamenu zone to let me configure them…
Choosing again the FR menu, I see it correctly in the megamenu zone.

Txs for your help ! this problem must be solved for this project and it becomes urgent.

    Yours,
    Marc

    Hi guys,

This seems to be a bug with multi-language menus showing in Mega Menu in admin. This issue was raised in Github, you can follow and join discussion at: https://github.com/t3framework/t3/issues/83

    Sorry for any inconvenience.

Txs Sagaros for pointing this discussion on Github.

See hereafter my further testing of this “megamenu in multilanguage environment problem”. There is hope for a temporary workaround…
But don’t forget my two other questions ! 🙂

    Marc

    ——
So so. I have spent another hour or two to understand, test & try to find workaround.

I am pleased to share here the result : this will save time to others hopefully !

Wat is the current understanding of the problem according to the Github discussion :
    – bug in T3
    – possible workaround : before being able to show (and edit) a megamenu in language X, choose language first language X in Front-End, then go back to Back-End, refresh and then you can see & edit megamenu in that language X.

So, full of hope, I tried many times, even logging out, logging in, forcing refresh with CTRL+Shift+R in my browser (Google Chrome) etc.
    No way !
Whatever I did, no megamenu would show, except the “all languages” and (in my case) the “FR language”.

So I went using my other computer… and there surprise : whatever I did on Front-End, no megamenu would show, except the “all languages” and the “NL language”.

    Very weird.
So in my case, no matter what the language of the front-end was, each computer was showing megamenu only for ONE particular and different language.

Then I realised that the only editable language of megamenu shown in Navigation tab is always the one “announced” on the Layout tab.
Example : Megamenu [mainmenu-fr] showing on top-left of the template of Layout tab => only French megamenu would show on Navigation Tab
A click on the Reset Positions button or on the Reset All button would not change anything by the way…

So I was starting to feel desperate when I decide to try something else :
I was having another behaviour with two different computers using the same browser.
Why not trying another browser ?

There, miracle ! (very first time of my life I am happy of Internet Explorer I think 😉 )
With Internet Explorer I could reproduce the workaround suggested on Github (see above).
(still, I don’t understand the reason for this. Maybe a problem with the cache or something like this ?)

So if this workaround keeps working, I can at least go on with my work on this point.

Still I would appreciate a proper update of T3 or of the template and I am not the only one 🙂

    Hi Joan,
So did you see the workaround (I would not call this a solution 🙂 in my post hereafter in this thread ?
Does the workaround work on your site ?

Also I wanted to ask you : how did you manage to put the “language switcher” on that position (really at the top-right of the page).
I don’t see any corresponding position in the template. Or have I missed something ?
    Txs in advance,
    Marc

    Hi @woluweb ,

thank you for your interest, I tried to apply your work around but didn’t run on my case, I’m using joomla 2.5.11. Anyway I’m very disappointed, I spent more than 2 weeks effort with my customer website, and now, when I tryed to set the multilanguage feature I realised that my time was wasted. My customer is so angry as well with me. So, don’t know what to do now. For me is incredible that a simple template cannot have the multilanguage feature.

For the Language Switcher, I created a new module position. You can know how to do it following this thread —> New module position on the right side of the Logo and Align right content within

    Good Luck !!!

I am still waiting for an answer of Joomlart on my two other initial points, especially the “compile less to css” which does not get through most of the time… (this is a kind reminder for Joomlart by the way 🙂

But as far as *you* are concerned, if you want you can PM me a superuser account and I will have a quick look for you : given the fact the workaround works on my installation, maybe I will see immediately something missing in yours or…

    As you wish 🙂

    Yours,

    Marc
