March 5, 2012 at 10:31 am #441883Eeeh Phill when I look in the FAQ of my hosting you can see the log files in the PLESK part under Log Manager. There are several logs there. So if you still want I can give you access there because I know that you can you see easier what you have to know then me. For me it is algebra 😉

March 5, 2012 at 10:39 am #441886I can take a look but I have never used plesk. Send them via PM but I would still badger your host as this really does sound like a hosting issue.

March 5, 2012 at 10:44 am #441892The back end is reachable because different scripts are running at the time. The front end uses a lot more server resources than the back end.

March 5, 2012 at 10:49 am #441897I see what you mean with “my site went blank”. Apparently Joomla is still there because in the page source I see some divs that come from Joomla.
Is the backend still operational?
Is how you found the site when you woke up this morning or did this happen after you changed something? If the latter is the case, do you know what you did just before your site went blank?Good luck with your knee. At least it gives you time to work on your website 🙂 I know the feeling of pressure when your website is down especially when your business depends on it. Hopefully you get a quick and helpful answer from your hosting provider.
And I agree with Phill that this could be a hosting issue. Many times when I was struggling with my website there was something changed in the hosting environment (ownership of files, permissions, new server or new software).

March 5, 2012 at 10:58 am #441901Well the site was working yesterday. Not completely as I wanted but working but every time after a while it becomes as you can see. I didn’t change anything exept building the website following the description found on joomlart.com.
The backend is still operational and when I choose another template you can see the site again that’s what I meant with the title The only strange thing is that it doesn’t matter if I use and old or new version of the template.
My knee is getting better although it is sometimes painful. Indeed it gives me time to work on my site but like this it is walking and standing still >:(.
Anyway thanks for thinking with me!

March 5, 2012 at 12:26 pm #441921Phil so far no response from my host. One thing is solved and that is that my text is saved normally now. The problem was that it was all the time saved as plain text. I reinstalled with a old version of Akeeba Admin Tools Joomla and then it worked again. I also learned that if you follow this (what I did also):
You have to go to your site’s Global Configuration, click on Text Filters, set the filtering for Super Users (and any other user group which is trusted with back-end access) to Default Blacklist or No Filtering and Save the global configuration.
It is a solution in this case also. Apparantly John saw just before my site went blank again that the slideshow is normal but at the moment it is white again .
To be continued………..:)

March 5, 2012 at 12:29 pm #441923Yep, a lot of people have trouble with the new text filters.

March 5, 2012 at 12:31 pm #441924Yep, you are right about the filter settings. I had that problem also with one of my sites after the upgrade to Joomla 2.5. All images and formatting was stripped from the article after saving it. Apparently a new feature of Joomla 2.5 that is not always initialized properly.
Regards, John

March 5, 2012 at 1:40 pm #441942Phil, it is already lasting for almost 3 hours now before they answer is it perhaps possible if you can take a look? I can see that the last visitor came around 23:00. I can explain in the PM were you can find the logs.

March 5, 2012 at 1:45 pm #441943Not really my place to look at the logs TBH. I do not know your servers setup and normally the best way to look at the logs is to do it via the command line. I am not sure the correct logs are visible via Plesk anyway. Usually it is only the access logs that are visible there, not the logs we need.
Who is your host out of interest?

March 5, 2012 at 1:58 pm #441946My host is Hosting2go.nl but in the Plesk I can find quite a few logs and they refer also in their FAQ back to those files regarding the 500 error.
