All I did was set the profile to “business”.

I would like to try a few things first. Can you wait an hour?

Please could you go to your back end and do a complete backup of your site using Akeeba Backup (install it if you have not alread got it) and then come back to me. I want to check through your files but do not want to loose any of your work hence wanting a backup.

Sorry, there is nothing I can do. As fast as I write files they are becoming corrupt. Even if I set the files to write only mode, a couple of minutes later they have been overwritten by something. Not sure if it is a corruption or a hack on your site. It is not just your template files but lots of Joomla core files. There is nothing I can do to stop it.

Ok Phil you did your best! Then I will install again a new version there is nothing to do against it.

Thank you for all the effort!

My pleasure and I wish you luck. This is certainly the wierdest thing I have seen for a long time. You have to win an award for that I am sure. Wierd thing is I took a copy of your akeeba jpa file and have it installed on my local machine and everything works well.

The best advice I can give you is to start looking for another hosting provider. The fact that they are not willing to look into this matter any further is not very good service.
Change your admin password for Plesk just to be sure than nobody else had access to your site through Plesk. Check if you see any strange files in your directory. If someone gained access to your directory it could be that he has set up an interface to have access even after you changed your password.
Run a virus scan. I don’t know if you have that option in your Plesk interface. Otherwise you can ask you provider to run a virus scan. It is in their interest to check that everything is ok in their environment. Better would be to run a scan that also detects a rootkit but I don’t think that option will be available for you.
Ask your provider to check if the ownership of all the files and subdirectories is correct and let them change this to the correct value in case there are anomalies. Check yourself if the files and directories have the correct permission. For most Joomal directories 744 (a bit more relaxed 755) and for most Joomla files 644 should be enough. It means that the owner (you) can read and write files and that everyone else can only read the files. Check this link for an explanation.

As long as the cause has not be found and solved you will experience these same problems.

    Regards, John

That is indeed strange that it works locally! I had also started to try to build local but I run in all kind of trouble there. To be honest so far I nver had no problems with my hosting only sometimes a experiment produced to much data and that is not nice when you are on a shared server. I just paid the hosting so it is not easy to change now.

In Plesk I already changed the password. I cleaned everything and started completely all over again. I think the best is to make a backup everytime before I make a change.

Update: Even now I have trouble, I uploaded everything and I don’t get the installation files. If this continues the I will go to my backup hoster only means that I have to kill a site there (is site of mine ;=)).

That makes me even more sure that your host needs to do some work and fix this for you.

Yep you’re right. I removed everything and uploaded about 5 times and still nothing. I already saw a nice hosting with actually more possibilities then this one but tomorrow I give it a last chance.

I saw the pricing for your current host. Even if you paid recently for a full year that amount is not too high to move away to be freed from these troubles.

    Regards and good luck, John

1 Last update; I have moved to a new hoster because more strange things happened, 3 nights ago I uploaded for the last time the whole Joomla package and the next day I could only see the installation folder and that was the moment I got fet up.

Now it is a like a fresh breeze and even some parts of the site are working much better then they did before. It is a bit of work again to build up the whole thing again but this hoster is permitting more then the previous one.

Conclusion is that indeed there were strange forces at work in my hosting…….

Thank you again for listening and helping!
