September 29, 2011 at 2:41 am #169075i have a big problem im serving up 2 types of news and information template state-411 is the default template and menu magazine is the default. that works fine i created a 2nd menu magazine2 and a template copy alternative news i go into the alternative news template and set the default menu to magizne2 and it changes the default template to magazine2 as well. there isnt enough menu space to do this on one one screen so i seperated the 2 and have a link back to the mainstream news how can i get it to have the defaults on the templates to stay to the menu’s i need them to?
please keep explanation simple and dont say it cant be done!

September 30, 2011 at 5:35 am #415817you need 2 modules.. one linked to ONE set of pages another linked to ONLY those sets.
Every “page” can have its own menu, modules, articles, etc.. Its all in the assignments.

September 30, 2011 at 6:05 am #415820yes but the template sets the menu to use for the main navigation and i need to be able to define an alternate menu for the navagation so in the default layout it calls for magazine to be the default navagation menu bar. the problem im having is that to make a 2nd menu i need to have magazine2 set to the default menu in the 2nd template otherwise having 2 diffrent modules does me no good if the templates always default to magazine

October 4, 2011 at 1:24 am #416609i dont want to sound like a prick but do you know this template? it is setup in the template setup under profile and you define the menu that will be used with the template there it overides all other choices no matter where you make them. in order for the template to do what i want it needs to be defined in this place and the only way i can see it worling is to define a new template and have that new template saaign the new menu. with that said you cant do that cause if you change the menu or any option on a template in this manner it changes it for all the templates. i have given the access to my site if you want to poke around in there and see what im talking about please do so we can get this resolved!

October 4, 2011 at 6:46 am #416638in 1.7 its entirely different then 1.5. Please look @ my statement carefully. On the very bottom far left you’ll see the template selector.
Your confusing JA template / framework with J! framework.duh_plumber Friendduh_plumber

October 4, 2011 at 5:57 pm #416834yes you are rite i guess i figure that the ja teline would be associated with the ja fraimwork and that they only intergrate to each other so i mispoke i guess if that is not the case. however with that said sence they are intergrated together as far as i can see for the functionality of this issue it still leaves me with the same problem. the ja fraimwork still controlls the menu that is used and i need to be able to be able to select the menu for each template as well as the pages that that template to assign to it without the ja fraimwork overiding that selection on all templates. so in conclushion i need to be able to have ja fraimwork controll default template+page 490+default layout+menu magizne and / arletnative template+page 790+alternative layout+menu magazine2 and so on and so forth the templates under ja fraimwork need to be independant of each other. i dont know how this could be done but maby a check box could be made and a small bit of code writen that simply states {if checked then reset ja fraimwork to new template paramiters=alternative} or somthing like that when it is the pages that are set are navigated to or somthing like that i dont know programing just using it as a example.

October 5, 2011 at 5:26 am #416938try this.. don’t force T3 to do anything… then pick 2 menu entries, or 2 menu’s entirely.. but start with 2 entries.
for one choose T3 template.. for another choose ANY OTHER template. you should see them function.
let me know if you see that work.duh_plumber Friendduh_plumber

October 5, 2011 at 10:07 am #416992in order to do that i would need to uninstall t3 cause it always has some position or menu that is selected by default you cant just select no menu item si it will always overide the selections iv tryed what your asking i dont know if i can run without it but what i do know its been a long time trying to get this figured out and im running out of time. i cant see in good sence to keep working on other parts of the site if this wont work then im sunk. and will have to go to some other framework and templates or somthing.

I’m sorry your completely incorrect, just to double check I just tried it and accomplished it in under 10minutes. I’ll release a video later explaining how to do this. Its already on Joomla’s site however.duh_plumber Friendduh_plumber
