ok the main menu for the site is magazine you can see it when you visit the site what i need is for the alternate news button to take it to the menu magazine 2 so it will look just like the main menu but diffrent topics it will look just like the home page with a buton back whitch is called mainstream news. i dont have video capture software or picture capture either. when you login to the site you just go to the menu menu section you will see the menu structre for bolth i havent finished all the changes between the 2 just enough to test to see if it will work.

the default template is state and the alternate one is alternate if you need more info just ask

but ive been waiting for several days to here from you here and there is no responce on the ticket either ive done everything you said and it still wont work ive asked you just to login to my site and tell me how to fix it and no results vo video no nothing.

as this is urgent to get this resolved and i see that you login to sites what is the problem with giving me the answer to this question as i stated before im not talking about the menu on the left or right im talking about the main navigation on the page that t3 controlls and there is no way to shut it off in t3. i went through the whole site and changed everything and created duplicate modules and pointed all the menu’s to the alternate template.

attached are the 2 screen shots it just needs to be able to switch the main menu when alternative news or mainstrean cews is clicked on and the alternative modules it wont do it

i have placed tickets and forum help questions again sence i put in a ticket now this guy wont help and i cant find a place to see if anyone is replying to my tickets.

here is what i need it should be a simple thing but no one understands so ill tru to walk you through it.

state-411.com is the url.

the menu

Alternative News | home| World | Tech | Entertainment | Health | Life | Travel | Artists | Sports

this is template state-411 under the template settings it is selected as menu=magazine home page

when you click on Alternative News it should go to this

Mainstream News | home| Aliens | Occult | Tech | paranormal | Wellness | Travel | Artists

this is template alternative “the menu should be menu=magazine2” so that it replaces the above menu for all the pages that are under it. and when you hit Mainstream News it should go back to the state-411 template setting

attached are the 2 screen shots and menu’s

ive added 2 more files to help demonstrate my point

1. state-411-template
2. Alternative-template
3. state-411-template2
4. Alternative-template2

someone from our company has answered you almost every single day. This is the weekend you know. I did explain how to do it and you’ve told me I was wrong. I also told you as soon as I was able I would look into making a video of it. I cannot justify dropping everything and spending 4hrs to make a video when I’ve got other tickets to handle also… Its not fair to others. As I stated before IF you will simply choose which template you want in the menu choice and then apply a given menu to that “page” you’ll have it. Whether a menu it @ the top, bottom, left, right, Joomla / T3 could care less.. Its simply a module position.
Just like yesterday we had a customer who wanted to remove the megamenu from the “iphone” layout. This was very simple as you simply remove it from the layout. This concept really is no different.
T3 is just a way of ‘styling” the content. J! is what controls the content. This is a basic concept that must be fully understood if you are going to truly exploit J!
As to getting content to only show in certain pages, thats controlled via modules and display parameters… http://officialjoomlabook.com would help you alot in understanding how joomla does this. you cannot have 2 “featured pages” but you can have a menu tab who displays only xyz categories on a give page set.

The basic problem is your mistaking this being a limitation / problem of Joomlart and not a issue with how Joomla works.

Once again, If I can get the time today to make the video I will

With all due respect, David . . . Support Team members HAVE been trying to assist you and – if the matter were as a “simple thing” as you believe it to be – then it would be something you would otherwise be able to resolve on your own, correct?

The issues you have been seeking help with are CUSTOMIZATION issues specific to your particular site project – and Support Team Members have been assisting you as they can – even though such is outside the scope of JA Technical Support. As such, please try to demonstrate some consideration and patience through the process – as our Support Team has been doing so with you and your requests for assistance.

Thank You.

this was a simple thing to do but what the modirator was telling me was incorrect and all the work for the past 2 weeks he told me to do was a wast of time and effort.

i asked him to look in the site and tell me what im doing wrong. Instead he built a site and made it work with a default joomla install and said he maid it in to min. Didnt help me didnt even tell me realy how i have to asume it didnt even have t3 or the jateline iv cause i could get those results only that way not with your products.

i understand having your guys back but he was arogant didnt listen to the customer. im not stupid your man lastnite told me how to fix this problem in less than 15 words. after he went to the site and looked at it. it was simple just assign a diffrent profile to the pages and direct the profile to the menu for each. done with 1 template and could have been done with only creating a few modules to replace for the news.

im not trying to be a jerk but when i ask to have some one take a min and look in the site i cant see the relevance of building a new web site anouncing his triumpahnt victory and then not saying how it was done . Do you?

nevertheless you have a bright man that responded back to me and you have been helpfull in the past as well even this guy that couldent help me helped with the language problem and i apreciat it. I just didnt apreciate being told to doo all this stuff and being made to feel dumb when i was right what he was saying was wrong.

the matter is closed and i will consider it forgotten. I will have other questions and soon just please listen to me and if you dont understand or if its over your head pass it on to some one.

That is not what I said…. It’s what you assumed. What i said was… @n6rej 273272 wrote:
I’m sorry your completely incorrect, just to double check I just tried it and accomplished it in under 10minutes. I’ll release a video later explaining how to do this. Its already on Joomla’s site however.

Nowhere does it state I used a new install nor non-T3 install. I run a minimum of 7 J! installs locally everyday. I have to imo to provide the high level of support I enjoy providing. I have looked @ your site so many times It’s not even funny.

Because YOU can’t get Teline to do something does not mean it can’t be done. There’s many things that even after all these years I can’t quite figure out, and many more I’ve forgotten how to do, that I watch others do. Your assumption was incorrect and so it blinded you to any other possibility.

Pavit’s way is great, and the reason I did not tell you that way was I was unsure of how extensible it would be or if it would truly fit your needs. I knew my “standard joomla” way would, I’d tested my way and therefore felt comfortable giving you that advice. I did state that you could simply change the module being used and you told me I was wrong yet again.

I wasn’t wrong … The fact that you CLEARLY do not understand how J! nor T3 TRULY work is the real issue. Perhaps I failed to communicate myself clearly. You have it fixated in your head that T3 overrides J! in all, and its simply not that way. While T3 does have some mild overrides you can always override the override also. And yes there are strong reasons for doing so.

I’m glad you got the info that you needed. Perhaps you can tell Santa to leave me one of these for our next conversation.
