Is it possible to override the default templates by copying files to my custom joomla template?
Like K2 does it… /templates/templatename/html/com_k2/overridefoldername
I don’t want to customize the original files in case they are overwrote.
I am using the latest version of the Search & Filter extensions with Joomla 2.5.11

June 4, 2013 at 4:47 am #494660Hi Spoke,
Yes, it’s possible, please take a look at the JA K2 Filter user guide http://www.joomlart.com/forums/topic/userguide-ja-k2-filter-package-for-joomla-2-5-3-0/ and go to section V . So you can create an override in the template too because JA K2 Filter uses K2 category page to display the results.

August 13, 2013 at 8:34 am #502057Can we assign different templates to categories or menus this way? I have tried this and when I select a template in component configuration then that template is applied to all categories.
I have noticed that there is a template setting in menu as well but is not taking effect?
Regards

August 14, 2013 at 2:30 am #502136Yes, the theme of result page is configured in the JA K2 Filter components setting, not categories.
<blockquote>I have noticed that there is a template setting in menu as well but is not taking effect?</blockquote> We are considering this feature and try to improve it in the next version.

It is filter ( search ) function, is not an item list page, that means the categories can not determine the template of the result page. I’m wondering why you want to assign templates to individual categories? Could you tell me how do you detect template applied in a result page if the filter function returns many items in the many categories?Hope you understand us.
