As we have announced, the download of JA Barite for 1.0.14 will be available in 1 or 2 days after the official release of JA Barite 1.5 stable. Please let us know at this forum so that we can provide necessary updates/bug fixes.

Mate, you try converting numerous templates over to Joomla 1.5, AND develop a new template from scratch?

Beside that, whilst it uses a few things from other templates, it has new modules as well.

Think this looks good. Yes, sort of mix and mash from other templates but still enjoyable. I am looking forward to something completely new soon? 🙂 Until then we’ll just enjoy this one.

I have looked at this template several times and I’m not sure what to think of it. I’m also not sure what it is as far as the theme…electronics store? or menu store? There are 3 menus on the front page I guess to fill out the left side but very confusing. I really don’t like the little slider box or the newsflash box.

But what I really am having a problem with is the speed of JA’s server. I looked them up on Alexa and it says 79% of all visitors go to their home page and only 3% to this forum. I rarely go to the home page because it is next to impossible on most days to access it. Then the turnover rate to the demo page is only 3% which says a lot about the frustration of visitors coming to this site.

Back to the template…I don’t like this one at all. There really isn’t anything to get excited about.

I sort of like it, but I know what you mean about previous templates. I think what might have helped some of us overlook this would be another JA_Virtuemart like Larix with unique styling. It would have been a natural choice for a lot of people.

It seems like the “new fad” is to package a template with a component or two and give it the template designer’s personal touches. That’s turn key for a lot of J! users and appears to be pretty popular.

Anyway, just my two cents…

The template demo does seem very busy. What I like is lots of module positions. I you turn off about half of them you could have something pretty good.

Hopefully this thread will be updated when the release the 1.0.X version. I am hoping that this template will work out for one of my site redesigns.

Just wondering if you had a rough ETA on Quickstart for j! 1.0.13?

Most of the extensions I want to use dont yet support 1.5. I would have done 1.0.13 first, just my opinion though. Last time I looked at this post about an hour ago there was a post from Shannon just before mine mysteriously it has gone, seems Shannons post has been ghosted away!

Hi Whatsupbudd55

If they have to release one version before the other, I can see how they would release the 1.5 first. 1.5 is the new hot thing and there are lots of people interested in it. Joomlart wants to be on the cutting edge of things.

With that being said, like yourself, I have sites in production and all the extensions are not available in 1.5. So 1.0.X is the template that I need.

It would have been nice if both templates were ready when the first one was released. However, if they have the 1.0.X available within a few days of the 1.5 release that is fine with me. They may even find a few bugs in the 1.5 and fix them for the 1.0.X release.

Off Topic
I hate to cross post but there seems to be some heavy hitters on this thread and I was wondering if any one knew the answer to my quesiton in this post, it is about ja_erica and the split menu option.

Essentially I have commented out the lower half of the split menu navigation and wanted to know if I am breaking anything else.

I have spent lots of time on the site and created new custom graphics for all of the elements. I a proud of the site and the joomlart template and want to make sure everything is the best it can be.
